Reading doesn't make you smart, most books aren't going to be that useful for you, even informative ones are mostly for personal enrichment, which is fine, but won't take you far unless you're an educator yourself.

@vii @sampler @ins0mniak Every time I try re-engaging and re-integrating into American folk culture I'm just disgusted and want nothing to do with it.

I want a culture of manifest destiny, perfecting the Roman Republic, training anyone with the talent to build their own personal empire within the system.

What I see is the worship of mediocrity. Mandatory self deprecation. I see people who aren't really smart enough to understand how anything works, but they're still very politically confident. Meanwhile they're 400 lbs even though they don't eat that much! They can't count Calories, let alone embody a culture worth representing.

I see these landwhales engage in performative Puritanical virtue signaling. They're convinced Epstein is still around trying to rape their children. They're not quite sure why he would do that, or what political corruption is at all, but they know they're poor and fat and that it's not their fault.

At best, you're discussing Tolkien with coal miners who haven't read Lord of the Rings, but think talking about it makes them cultured.

I want approximately ZERO percent of this culture represented in anything, ever. I want this to be as forgotten as the stone age.
