Yes, except for the "small single-dev projects" part.

You can be a larger, well-funded years old project with multiple developers and still don't want to branch out into features or use cases you didn't plan for or care about.

I've been tangentially involved in one and it was quite common.

Apple hardware *in general* is not any better than other premium computing hardware. And the software has been on a long, slow worsening trajectory for years.

The M1 and M2 are *really* nice CPUs. But that is 80-90% due to them being ARM-based, free of legacy cruft; other ARM systems are similarly just better than the equivalent X86 ones.

People stopped using them for a reason though.

Perhaps you could have another go at a more opinionated hardware design today.
