@skinnylatte my sister-in-law from Malaysia said something similar about the US. She asked me why things close so early. She also thinks the suburbs are too quiet lol

@vfrmedia @skinnylatte this sounds nice! My family is from Tonga (South Pacific) and stores are completely closed on Sunday like in parts of Europe.

But people are still up in the night doing things, but at home or in church halls.

I've always felt like an outsider, but I constantly fought and had to prove myself to others. But it gets so exhausting over time to keep doing that. That is one of the major reasons for my burnout.

And so many people not taking you seriously, talking over you, treating your work as unnecessary gaslights you into thinking you aren't worthy.

Goddamn this nails it. The "most likely to believe in their own ability / worth regardless of external cues". I struggle with this so much. I feel like a constant outsider in the tech industry despite my accomplishments.

I know I'm capable, but I'm tired of the code-switching, in-group mentality, unwritten rules that come with working in this industry.

@skinnylatte @Andres4NY yes this. They will divert flights to other airports "allowed" to do it. There is no way DHS will allow people to roam freely in an airport. I work in one and I can't even do that.
