I'm writing a guide on how to use Syncthing for my less fortunate friends who have to use a proprietary system like Android+Linux.
I'll be include a lot of screenshots, and the whole guide will be in Bengali. -

@dcc @mangeurdenuage I know someone who actually writes passwords in paper (notebook). Problem is people who are writing passwords on paper probably don't know how to generate strong, unique passwords. -

KeepassXC is available on MacOS. There was no reason to not use it other than laziness. -

@foone No they are not "website" in traditional sense. A real website will only have HTML and CSS sent to you. They are software sent to your browser, and it communicates with the parent server. Disabling javascript in your browser will fix the problem. -

We are knee deep in water. And I'm in the part of the city where this almost never happens, while other parts are knee deep. But this time our neighborhood is under water, I wonder what happened to those other parts. -

Today, some of my classmates asked me why I don't use WhatsApp, and this gave me opportunity to tell them about GNU and free software movement. We are winning! -

@sun I received Amazon Prime subscription from my Telecom operator and I gave it to an acquaintance. He complained that even after the subscription you need to pay for some of the individual shows separately. WTF. -

Trisquel 12 is very close to being released. I think I'll install it in my 2019 laptop that's running Debian 12 right now.
In this machine, wifi chip is freedom incompatible, but it has an Ethernet port. What I do now is, whenever I'm at home where I have access to Ethernet, I boot into the Linux-libre kernel. I also keep a copy non-free Linux kernel so that I can have wifi in case of emergencies.
My guess is I can keep a similar setup. I can get the non-free linux kernel from Ubuntu archive. Or if necessary I can always build it from source. -

I want to do GNU from scratch, so that I get a better understanding how gnu system comes together. But, I'm afraid it'll take days even with my i7 machine with 8 GiB of RAM, totally disrupting my sleep.
Is 8 GiB RAM even enough? -

Mastodon's follow hashtag feature was actually very useful. When will Pleroma have something like that? -

I decide on the basis of two criteria:
1. Does it work with javascript disabled?
2. Can you search anonymously with tor?
If "No" any one of both accounts, then definitely a bad choice. -

I don't know why people complain about hybernation not working in GNU+Linux, I have swap space >= RAM, and it's working every time.
It's quite nice, especially for my laptop that doesn't have battery. I make it go to hybernation, unplug the charger, go to new place, replug the charger, and resume from where I left off. As if it's coming back from sleep.
