@jimcarroll I navigated these on a test server identical to production. Hve not done production. I don't use docker images so can't help if that's your setup. It was a challenging upgrade. Had to build libvips from source as no distro seems to have the latest required. Had to upgrade ruby to 3.5.5 even though it says the minimum is 3.1 or something. Had to upgrade nodes and figure how to do that.

#Defcon thoughts. Haven’t been there since covid started but I always have had a spiritual affinity with the family, I’ve often thought though, I haven’t hacked systems, I know some stuff about Linux, enough to build systems and such, enough to build the Thirring network, make things work. Stuff like that, but do I really belong? I let my own impostor syndrome get in the way. Some of that has been economic/job struggles

I’m an introvert, I don’t have tones of connections and I live in a cheap minded city where businesses don’t want to train, or even give time to learn. I’ve learned to adapt to that but I’m not a “security person”. I’m a physicist. I’m leaning into that and physicists are hackers too! We ask questions of the universe, we try to find the gaps in the rules and bend them to our will. My interest is gravity and all the secrets we can unlock with it.

As I’ve often said. Mathematics is the language that the universe is written in, the laws of physics are its source code and we’re the reverse engineers living inside the compiled program. So I will for future Defcons, instead of fighting the thoughts that I’m not good enough, I willl embrace what I am good at! I hope to find other #physicists at Defcon…who knows maybe there will be talks? Contests..villages (beyond just the Quantum Villiage!)
