@cwebber @mlemweb How usable is it by itself? The screen and keyboard both look tiny -

@mei @domi @SuperDicq I dislike it for a different reason: instead of providing an image with non-free-firmware alongside the free-only image (which was option 6 on the ballot), the free-only image was replaced with the one including non-free-firmware (option 5). This means that if you don’t need the non-free firmware, you still have to waste bandwidth downloading it and remember to boot with firmware=never. There’s also the fact that non-free firmware being available for your system doesn’t necessarily mean you need it (e.g. if you have AR9462 and don’t use bluetooth, you don’t need to load anything), but I don’t remember if Debian asks you whether to load each firmware blob or just loads them all without asking (if it asks it’s not an issue).

@libreleah @developing_agent My optiplex 5050's internal and external dumps did differ. There's a log that's used for stuff like intrusion detection and I suspect it's writing to that. -

@libreleah @developing_agent the libreboot installation documentation says:
the factory firmware write might EFI variables to flash during shutdown sequence, so you should pull the plug to shut it down (remove the power by pulling the plug) after flashprog says VERIFIED.
So I expect the dumps will be different, but not in a significant way.

browsers do not offer an interface that allow for that
That sounds like an issue with those browsers, and does not make Anubis proprietary. You could make a more user-freedom-respecting browser. If there was a program that automatically downloaded, say, GIMP, and ran it on your computer, would the existence of that program make GIMP proprietary?

@cwebber In what way are fediverse relays re-centralization? They're not really comparable to Bluesky relays in that they're completely optional and there's no single central relay, they're just for smaller instances to get more posts federated to them. -

@evan I think the purpose was to force people to set up automation. Setting up automation is harder than just installing a certificate, but you only have to do it once instead of having to do it yearly (which you may forget). In the long run it's more convenient. -

@Suiseiseki @gyptazy That's not an inherent property of the software. There's no reason why you couldn't use a shared blocklist on a GNU Social or Pleroma instance.
