@RxBrad Threads is VERY active, as far as I can tell.

Usually I can find discussions on almost any topic there.

I can find discussions on Bluesky for the topics I want to discuss, but usually never get any interactions back. It's weird tbh.

I just wish Fedi had more of the things I wanna discuss, but there isn't, so I try to get people to turn on Fediverse Sharing on Threads but that hasn't gone very well and threads users still can't reply to Fedi users.😒

So...I saw this graph floating around that apparently roughly shows active user count across the 3 major corporate microblogging platforms.

I thought Bluesky was doing well?🤔

I've never gotten any interactions when I post there so I barely ever post. If this graph is correct, it makes sense why I don't get any interactions.😳

@rolle no, there IS quote permissions on threads. The issue lies in the fact that quoting = linking. Don't have permission to quote? Don't have permission to link.

We'll have to see how Mastodon does it when 4.5 comes out.🤷♂️

On threads if you link to a post, it automatically becomes a quote post. You cannot link to posts on threads that have limited quote posts.

So from what I understand from your explanation, it would show the link along with a note saying "user approval pending" or something similar? Cause that would be preferable. It's not possible on threads at all, unless there's a trick that I'm unaware of.🤔

Because with how the apps do it now, you just need to link to another Fediverse post for it to look like a quote post.

If they do the same thing, I surely hope they don't limit someone from linking to another Fediverse post. That would be....not great.😳

Threads does this exact thing and it's infuriating. There's some misinformation that you can't even discuss because the person limited quote posts and replies.🤦♂️

Got an interesting problem here.

I created a Pixelfed account ages ago, perhaps a year, @missingbrighton@pixelfed.social which I subsequently deleted. It wasn’t for me.
Recently I created @missingbrighton@gram.social to see if Pixelfed was anymore suited, but it wasn’t. I have deactivated this account.

But both accounts are still visible in a search and appear to be active.
Can someone see if they can see the circled accounts, so I know who to contact.

@missingbrighton this is a caching issue from your instance most likely.

Most instances have certain settings for how often cache is cleared for efficiency purposes. I'd expect them to disappear in a week or two.

@prolrage do you discuss the Israel situation?

If so, that's why. They censor criticism of Israel.😒

If a Threads user with Fediverse sharing enabled mentions @mosseri in a post the link to his account fails, but will open in a browser / the Threads app.

Mentions from Mastodon successfully link to his account.

@toddalstrom that's because threads moved from .net to .com

Since Fediverse doesn't allow domain changes, that's the only way to directly link to the correct account from Threads.

Threads Fediverse domain is still .net, but threads actual domain is threads.com

Using the hashtag Mastodon because you *post on* Mastodon? NO!!!! 😩👎

@Em0nM4stodon this is one of my biggest pet peeves on Fedi. Fediverse related hashtags to talk about Fediverse related topics are absolutely unusable nowadays.😒

@THE_RUBICON it's the entire Fediverse unfortunately. People across many different Fediverse softwares are just complete assholes for no reason.😒

Mastodon.social is the main one thats run by the Mastodon GMBH.

However, mstdn.social is also very good if you don't care about interacting with Threads users.

I've had a few dozen friends get completely silenced on Mastodon.social for the same things. You might end up wanting to migrate to a different instance.😬👀
