@kaeurenne backblaze is cloud object storage like Amazon s3 or similar.

I would recommend trying to find an object storage service that's within budget for you, else you'll have to tweak LOTS of settings so that things get deleted off your system regularly,🤷♂️

It's not cheap to run social media.

I used to self-host my Mastodon.

I set up the instance to heavily federate with others through my followings and relays.

The next day, my VPS reached 90GB of 100GB of storage, and my Mastodon website could not be accessed.

Other people advised me to use a VPS with 1TB or more for Mastodon.

@kaeurenne nah, I recommend connecting it to backblaze. When I ran mine, my backblaze storage would get up to 1-2 tb and still be less than $10 a month.🤷♂️

The ability to pin multiple posts and have them visible at the top of your profile was among the features that made #Mastodon more appealing than other platforms. Now that's been wiped out overnight without any option for users to choose whether their profile reflects the change. What happened to respecting user's choice or preferences?

Whoever has been in charge of UI changes for the past couple of updates really needs to be assigned to something else. How much more are they going to destroy?

I know there's not many people on Fedi who like Pro Wrestling, but I thought this was really cool.

If they were required to release server files so players could continue to run the games themselves once the company can no longer do it.

PirateSoftware, a game "dev", very vehemently denounced the initiative as HORRIBLE and it could "eat his entire ass" and has quadrupled down on that as well.

Therefore, people started deep diving into his background and found out that basically he's a narcissistic liar. He wasnt a game dev at blizzard like he previously claimed. In fact, he's self taught and his code is VERY bad.

Those revelations along with continuing to throw hate at the initiative has caused the initiative to gain the amount of signatures it needed to move forward, along with millions of people hating on this dude for his behavior.

Well deserved.

@tezoatlipoca it's a LOT, but basically he's a former QA at blizzard that left to "develop his own game". His dad was the cinematic director for blizzard for 30+ years. Any kind of amazing cinematic you saw from blizzard from like 1992-2020 was done by his dad.
