I think my cat's silly because it will stare at a spot on the wall for hours because there was a fly there earlier.

But there's a farmer's field near where I live that I check for emus every time I drive past it because a couple of times, about four years ago, I saw emus in it. So really, are we all that different?

I think it depends on the situation.

Skills you use in combat, absolutely. I'll always steer clear of things that might just do nothing because they are unreliable.

Also one off interactions where you can completely miss getting something, absolutely hate that (also quite common in DnD and other CRPGs)

But something like side missions, I think an option of high reward but chance of nothing works fine. Particularly if the party you send gets some exp and stuff regardless.

I think this is one area where the uselessness of LLMs is a bonus, I'm not sure they are reliable enough to be able to consistently bias stories in the way that you'd want.

As I was reading it I thought "Oh, he has a hospital ship, that's surprisingly philanthropic" until I released it was a private hospital ship solely for his own benefit when he's on one of the other ships.

Just did a political survey for one of the survey sites I'm part of and one of the questions was about various forms of government and how successful I thought they'd be.
It's kind of telling that I couldn't be more supportive of any of them more than a "kind of agree" other than dictatorship which was a hard no...

There is basically no one you can really trust to make decisions on behalf of humanity.
