@tlapka @aetios the reason for this isn't mechanical wear but the fact that mouse vendors deliberately hook up those switches with a load current that is lower than the minimum recommended in the datasheet

so over time the switch builds an oxide layer until it doesn't make a reliable connection anymore. this makes failure predictable and usually occur within 2 or 3 years

@icedquinn last time i compressed the whole movie down to 212MiB for synchronized http streaming because it was old enough for 480p and AV1 grain synthesis worked really well

turns out we do have efficient video compression, you just don't get it if you insist on using hardware encoders with dogshit rate control
