Gestern, mitten in #Berlin (nahe Potsdamer Platz): Ein Reiher, einfach so. Stakste da ein bisschen rum, nicht zu interessiert was sonst so los war. Hatte ich nicht mit gerechnet.
@goatsarah you have managed to perfectly convey this feeling in this post. kudos.
If it helps: If the video has a transcript (next to the description) you can search that with ctrl f. But it is still a video, the least dense form of this kind of information.
I have not seen this before, but maybe I am repeating it: We have quite an influx of people #NewHere in the #Fediverse. Besides the obvious stuff like boosting #Introduction posts, consider looking at the seemingly empty new profiles of people who (request to) follow you. Their post might not be known to your instance (because federation things). You can search for nice post URLs in your instance to have it discover them and favorite/boost them. Let’s make sure to welcome all the fresh faces!
PSA: #AltText is a great #Accessibility tool. It isn’t just essential for people who rely on screen readers. It triggers applicable filters, making this platform a lot easier to stomach for many people.
Consider writing at least a short phrase for filters. #Alt4Me if you do not have the time or energy in the moment.
I might #Alt4You unprompted (on popular posts), this is not a complaint, but meant as a helpful gesture. I will not boost toots without alt text.
@garfieldairlines I can see where you are coming from, but do we really need our own tech “giants”? Granted, I think they would be subject to stricter regulation (for now…). But should we, if we ever get of our asses to build our own stuff, not strive for something at least marginally better? Not monopolistic giants, but truly a set of alternatives (to put it in “market” speak: competition)? @soatok
In our flatshare, we have a bit of a running joke based on someone misunderstanding what was meant with fried noodles (“wait you put them directly into a pan?!”). Since then, I find those dishes where you actually put them directly into a pan very funny, like Pastasotto, or in this case: Spaghetti all’assassina. The pasta has a bit more bite to it, and it gets a hint of sweetness from the slightly caramelised sugars in the tomatoes.
