The new app will support many of your feature requests, like links across bios, comments and posts opening in a browser with a tap, preserving your feed position when you browse a profile, opening comments in a modal for easy browsing and much more!

We won't tease an ETA, we'll share the TestFlight and APK link when ready!

The fediverse is special because we put people first, and we admit we lost track of that while focusing so much on Loops.

That being said, the founder @dansup is focused on Pixelfed exclusively until we resolve the bug reports, and improve federation.

The new Pixelfed mobile app is almost ready for beta testers, and brings a much faster, stable and easier to use experience!

We are prioritizing core features first, like feeds, interactions, notifications and dark mode.

More complex features like Collections and Stories will ship later on, so we can get this in your hands ASAP.

Due to Android API changes, we need to submit a new build that meets target API requirements before August 31.

Pixelfed admins take note, we will be building an official Pixelfed relay service that you can enable with one tap!

The relay will source content from trusted and moderated instances using a combination of heuristics to ensure the content abides by our community guidelines.

@jaypeach53 They can't be distributed, they need to remain on the flagship server for a few reasons:

- This requires Developer API keys
- Flagships are the most stable servers to join
- Flagships have a diverse community and more content
- Flagships are trusted more than random servers

But here is the catch, we also need to build full account migration so they can easily move across servers.

That is what LOLA is for!

We are aware of a spam campaign of accounts like "supportbot" that attempted to impersonate pixelfed.social staff and get users to click on a malicious link.

I (@dansup) was on the way home from FediCon when the reports came in, and I promptly suspended those accounts.

*Official communications from pixelfed.social admins/staff will only be sent via email, never DMs or comments.*

We are working on improved measures to prevent this type of abuse.

We built a clever AI filter feature into Loops where content or posts can be labeled as AI, and every member of our community can opt to hide all AI content from feeds (across web + mobile).

You can also report untagged AI content, and admins can apply auto AI labelling to local and remote accounts (with optional backfilling).

We need to bring this to Pixelfed, so our community can take advantage of this too!

Just a reminder that a lot of these new Loops features we've worked hard on will be coming to Pixelfed later this year.

Starter Kits/Collections, Group Chats and proper threaded comments are the big ones, and we're also refactoring the backend to fix tons of bugs you've reported and make the whole experience more stable and frictionless.

Once @dansup gets back from FediCon, he plans to spend August preparing the new mobile app (Android + iOS) and web UI for release.

It will be worth the wait!
