@bjb@hacks4pancakes eh, I think the rules are that you get deported back to where you entered from, not your home country. Canada being a relatively safe place to be deported to, so back to Canada.
But if the US border & immigration don't follow tbe rules ๐คทโ๏ธ
@hacks4pancakes we should really close those and let US immigration occur in the US instead of pre-clearance facilities in Canada. They were put in post-911 to speed up business travel, but it's not really necessary anymore.
@evan there's always conflict around. The wars among the nation states today aren't terribly different than those going on for about 500 years, even many of the participants and motives are the same....economic colonisation.
@evan potential future poll question for the start of WWIII.
But I'd pick something in the 1990s with the Yeltsin-Putin transition that occurred because of a failure to integrate the Russian economy into the western economy in an acceptable way.
@evan forwards AC in the summer, reverse AC in the winter. 1 high efficiency heat pump system. Loving it after 2y, costs are way down vs the old system, and the govt provided grants and interest-free financing.
@evan@mpjgregoire the King never stood for election, but we have an old deal where the crown let's us run the show most of the time in exchange for not killing them and their family. It's all explained in that scene in the Holy Grail.
@evan the govt has a limited amount of time to pass a money bill, automatically a confidence matter. If that had occurred before Trudeau prorogued the house, Carney could ride as unelected PM for almost a year. I went looking for what ultimately forces a confidence test on the govt, which has a variety of powers to limit the sitting of the house where that occurs.
@evan I said somewhat agree, but then I started to think about the date when it worked well, and it gets worse the further back I consider. Maybe a short window between civil rights and Reagan?
Please adjust your tally by -1 for my misvote, in your permanent records.
@mike@frameworkcomputer@killyourfm it's pretty nice. It's cheaper than Apple hardware. It's DIY, which is fine. Is it cheaper & better than DIY'ing your own desktop after reading some hardware compat specs? I dunno...it seems like it might not be a bad deal to pay a bit of overhead for having someone line up some nice parts and stand behind them (somewhat).
@evan the Democrats (and LPC) have about 30y of missing the target on economic issues for the 99%, who are under greater and greater pressure. Human rights are important. Economic rights are important.
Economic issues have a broader appeal. Dems neglected them in their message and Trump didn't.
