Very much agree. Businesses want predictability.

@cdarwin in theory, it should be better than the issues during COVID: as soon as the tariffs go away, within 30-60 days, shelves could start to refill.

BUT, Americans will need to feel quite a bit of pain before their Republican Members of Congress will feel enough heat to start pushing back.

My guess is by the end of the summer, the screaming will be full throttle and the Rs will start to cave.

That 90M number includes a lot of people that were micro-targeted with some very specific misinformation/disinformation. They aren’t stupid, but they aren’t as attentive to the details of what’s going on. So those messages have a big impact.

I think this gets missed quite often. It’s a hard problem, as negative ads are effective. It’s worse when they are subtle and cause you to vote (or not vote) against your best interests.

My dad was a mechanic for International Harvester, so we had all kinds cars and trucks around us that needed to be worked on.

I remember, as a teenager, being able to climb into the engine compartment on some of these, to work on the engine. Ah, the “good old days”.

Honest question (not snark):

When will the first calls for Drümpf’s impeachment come in the House? Unless I’ve missed something, there’s been saber rattling but no actual claims asserted. Are the Ds waiting for something substantial first?

I’m not opposed to that, if so. Just curious what it will take.

While the first attempts may not yield any results, it raises the volume.

I think it’s more like “supported” as they use the US and its power structure to launder their money and buy influence.
