I do think that guilt is a growing problem, and I'm sorry if this post triggered that reaction.

I have met people coming here from Israel particularly distressed with the events and with the prospect of being targeted, and I would never ask them this question, nor push them to take a stand on this.

I consider the fediverse a safe space. I think we have done collectively a good job in keep nazi, far-right violence and reals antisemitism out.

I have in the past asked jewish friends to entertain me on judaism, as I have to friends of other faiths. I have engaged with muslim people on similar topics, and they are happy to reply.

Not all jews fell guilt, sephardite jews for instance, the ones I know are particularly oblivious of the actions of Israel.

I'm not sure how else could I phrase this.
My intention is the opposite of conflating Judaism and Israel, but actually eliciting quotes from within Judaism of how Israel that not represent the Jewish people.

I have a huge respect for #judaism, and #Jew traditions, which proudly survived catholic repression in my country. Who knows I might have Jew ancestors.

However I'm as so many others utterly appalled by what Israel is doing to the Palestinian and Lebanese people.

So I ask my Jew friends in the fediverse, which parts of the Torah come to your mind regarding the ongoing atrocities perpetrated by the Israeli government.

If you're following through with ditching stock Android, I strongly recommend DivestOS.

It's a more secure version of LineageOS, but not as strict as GrapheneOS.

For me it was realizing Android (4.2.2) would call Google and upload anytime I entered a contact.

Even after I disabled sync, and a bunch of services. Turns out the only way was to remove Google Services Framework.

Never looked back.

Signal is probably the best replacement for WhatsApp because is verifiably End 2 End Encrypted.

So even if the Signal Foundation or Amazon where their servers are hosted decide it's time to do social graphs, at least the content of your messages is encrypted.

To escape metadata surveillance it gets more complicated, but it would probably involve a mix of TOR and XMPP or something.

It's a metadata issue.
But to be honest, apart from the branding there is little difference now.
They claim the code base is the same, but there are a ton of UX differences from v.6 to v.8 which make it IMO slower and less usable.

To move from K9 to Thunderbird:
Export settings from K9,
Import from TB

Reenter all the passwords.
Quite seamless.

Second that. Remember unless this is escalated in social media it will be likely a clueless poorly trained employee in a third party contractor dealing with your request.

Once admitting could be harder to revert this.

Patience and escalating this to a supervisor or better yet through social media.
