I just watched Cory Doctorow's speech at 39C3.

It was passionate, complex, insightful, scary, yet hopeful. I'm a little irked at the massive run-on sentences that require rewinding to understand, but the frustration and dedication come through in spades.

I learned a lot about the power Seattle and Silicon Valley have over governments. And the authoritarian initiatives use this to great affect.

I'm off American tech, I am using open source/FOSS-based OSs and programs, I donate to all the indies I use, yet it doesn't feel like enough.

Brilliant. Thought-provoking. Enraging. It feels like the start of something bigger.

I keep a day's worth of medicine in a small pot that lives in my bag. It also has extra pain meds just in case.

I just sat down in a garden, enjoying the winter sun, and got out the pot. The lid broke! Now they're all destroyed at the bottom of my bag, and I can smell the codeine.

I hope to narc doggies smell me today. It's going to be hard to explain.

I got caught in the rain today.

My feet were soaked through. I scuttled my socks. They've not yet warmed up.

I want a dog for many reasons, but a nice one right now would be an on-call foot-warmer.
