Tomorrow is Trumpโs 80th birthday โ and weโre not giving him the attention that he craves.
Instead, weโre joining a night of localized organizing around the nation with Jane Fonda, Patti Smith, Julia Roberts, Lily Gladstone, Bette Midler, Rufus Wainwright, and many more friends of the First Amendment: https://riseupsingout.com
In a big loss for Trump and Mike Johnson, the House voted down the reauthorization of a little-known law that lets the regime sidestep the Constitution to spy on American citizens.
Brave people inside โAlligator Alcatraz,โ a concentration camp in the Florida Everglades, reported guards withholding food and water unless they sign documents in English that they donโt understand.
They also said the water they do get is putrid, and medicine has been taken away or delivered late.
As of this week, around 150 people are still being kept inside cages at Alligator Alcatraz, including people with serious medical conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure.
Weโre not giving Trump the attention he craves for his 80th birthday. Join us on Sunday for a night of localized organizing around the nation: https://riseupsingout.com
LFG!!! Congratulations to Randy Villegas on this huge win in CA-22! Thank you to La Raza Indivisible and all of the Indivisibles across the nation who supported Randyโs people-powered campaign, and helped him defeat the Democratic establishment that tried to pick a favorite in this key district!
Randyโs victory in this key district is even more proof that Democratic voters are done with the failed party leadership that lost to Trump twice.
Meet Bill Pulte. 2 years ago, Trump's new Director of National Intelligence accepted an award that says he "only f*cks the young." And currently, he's under investigation for potentially misusing his authority at the Federal Housing Finance Agency to go after Trump's โenemies.โ
Once we got Democrats into fighting shape, they stayed strong and refused to give ICE another penny. Republicans chose to leave the negotiating table, forcing DHS into the longest shutdown in US history and requiring ICE and Border Patrol to spend down their reserves.
Then, the GOP tried to go it alone and ram through additional funding with the reconciliation process.
As we look toward November, itโs up to all of us to ensure the anger and frustration Americans are feeling translates into action at the ballot box. Between now and the midterms, we will continue organizing against attacks on our communities, fighting voter suppression, and working to elect a Congress that will hold DHS and ICE accountable instead of continuing to hand them blank checks.
Even with full control of Congress, we blocked and delayed them for weeks, exposed cracks in their coalition, and forced them to abandon the $1 billion they planned to spend on Trumpโs ballroom.
This doesnโt make todayโs vote any less devastating, but it does show your organizing mattered and the regime is weaker than they want us to believe.
While families across the country are struggling to afford healthcare, housing, and food, Republicans in Congress signed off on billions more for Trumpโs mass deportation machine and expanding detention facilities.
The GOP has made it clear that their priority is pouring billions into out-of-control agencies and carrying out Trumpโs agenda instead of helping working families afford to survive.
This is obviously not the result we were fighting for.
House Republicans just voted to hand Trump and ICE another $70 billion โ despite growing evidence of abuse, cruelty, dangerous conditions inside detention facilities like Delaney Hall, and the horrifying violence weโve seen in places like Minnesota.
