Open question - to what extent do you think @Mastodon is an #echochamber ? I'm still quite new to it and do see differing views and opinions, but very rarely on the same conversational thread.

My hope moving here, other than to escape #Meta @threads + (always) avoid #X #Twitter , was/is for mature exchanges on subjects of shared interest (social media #nirvana I realise) and that inherently requires dissenting opinion from strangers. Is this generally 👍 or 👎 here?

@WarnerCrocker They'd probably have trouble proving a causal relationship - Netanyahu was never going to agree to this deal if it had a remote possibility of Hamas accepting it. He's 'playing the game' as Israel did following the Yom Kippur attack. They could have ended it on day one, and permanently lost all global allies, but that's not how they survive.

@goatsarah There is a third option: be part of the growing number of Brits that reject this premise and do things differently. We're part of our local community orgs even when that's thankless, we push water uphill starting local businesses that only source from and support local businesses, third-sector organisations and residents, we effect change locally instead of at #Westminster or #Holyrood and as a whole change the setup. Fatalism like this is outdated and just makes all that harder.
