American identity is currently defined by soil exclusively. If you were born on American dirt you are American regardless of the circumstances, and even that has been slipping. First it was if you arrive on the American dirt young enough you count too, now it's just any immigrant who shows up is just as American as you and me. There are almost no shared ideals, even less allegiance, and no sense of duty. Why would there be in such a system? I can't stand vivek.

Trump is going to bring back incandescent light bulbs and it looks like something he actually has the power to do. Does this count as a happening? (Also he made Lee Zeldin the EPA secretary lol)

Some of them cynically pretend to not get it but there are bound to be a few people who genuinely don't understand compound interest and I feel bad for them. I think it's reasonable to expect the government to do something to stop such people from getting stuck in a debt trap. Good article btw.
