So after 1 - 2 weeks doing a lot of #perl i don't get why people say write once language? Its not more ugly than lets say #python or #php or even #js. It's diffrent but in no means ugly or harder than other languages. What do i miss? Yeah i get people obsest with writing the smallest code can write pretty awefull onliners but on the other side its like an hiku or a small poem and by no means you should use that in production or in big applications. You dont use a poem to write a book right?

@jonny i've lost a lot of faith in humanity due to this and also all the other incidents that happend like edward snowden, epstin, cumex and all other stuff i don't want to get into detail. But this showed me the public is not interessted in what happens to them and who controlls their lifes and yet i have no clue how to tackle this problem besides better education. But this is also rigged :/. Cyberpunk here we come

@cwebber lisp is fast cause if you get past that paren bias you'll see that lisp mostly reads like english and working with it is like discussing a problem with the computer. You explore your problem space. It not even broadens your insight into the problem itself but also gives you new ideas. The real impact is that you understand your problem better while using the repl. I've used other languages where you thought a lot but achived little and in the and often failed cause you gave missed one little thing that you couldnt test cause you had to implement a lot beforehand. So imho lisp is like talking to the computer and try to solve your problem in babysteps and give you deep insights in how you solve stuff. I love it

@amszmidt @ksaj @glitzersachen @loke i guess this is due the fact that lisp has a crazy load of core libraries that do a bunch of stuff. Like stringp loop macro ...

You know i'm this old that i still think #jenkins is one of the best ci cd tools ever build. Besides makefiles ;). But why do people still tell you that gitlab and github cicd are the best. Imho #jenkins was and is feature complete and even if not you can easily extend it. It proofs itself all the time even with the "cloud". Over and out.

@amszmidt @autiomaa but isn't defun a macro. Imho macros doesn't have to obey the law of the lisp language due to the fact that it is specifically build to create domain specific languages that have in my experience diffrent rules. Or am i wrong? That just came to my mind as i was reading your toot.

@feld this entire elon and jeff and all the other buying everything really feels like in those economy simulations like openttd where you have so much money that you can literary buy and do shit whatever you want and can't use. Even if its not economic. Sounds like this system doesn't work well

Want to get away from cloud and all their talk about hyperscale? I doubt that more than 1 - 2% of companies need that massive scaleablity. Imho our field need more #fullstack one man army style of frameworks. Doing a #webservice shouldn't be hard like it is today with all its #microservices and #kubernetes and aws lambdas. #Developers need to build trust on them and should be professional in saying i know what my stuff is doing. Just imagine a craftsman who always tells that he has no clue and how wierd his craft is. No one would put trust on them. And thats whats currently happening with all those #layoffs and #ai stuff.
