Sometimes I dream of building a system for myself with a server somewhere that supports email, activitypub, xmpp, matrix... for internet-side communication protocols - and translates them into something I could interact with via a BBS-style interface (that I could share with friends or use alone).

And not "ActivityPub in this telnet session, email in that" (this is already feasible, with pleroma+addon for AP, email e.g. via citadel), but all of them flowing into a single BBS system (maybe via doors or tosser style interfaces for interactive and asynchronous interfaces, respectively.)

All the asynchronous bits (which includes microblogging and RSS) could even be packaged up Fido-style (FTN is still a thing) for local offline consumption.

@rysiek Does it have to be Mastodon? There's GoToSocial, MissKey and various other Fediverse servers, too.

Vielleicht hätte Habeck einen Exportzoll für Verbrenner einführen müssen, damit die ach-so-wichtige-ach-so-tolle deutsche Autoindustrie mal Anreize bekommt, etwas zu produzieren, das im Exportgeschäft (an dem hier ja alles hängt, weil Mitarbeiter ordentlich bezahlen geht ja auch nicht) auch gewünscht wird.

Aber ich glaube, darüber wäre Porsche-Chrissi dann wirklich selbst aus der Koalition ausgetreten...

@thomasfuchs So the author of that listing could just backfill the order if there ever happens to be a fool taking it, without the need to hold inventory of their own? Sounds like a win.

@thomasfuchs I see two reasons for such a listing: Either they're just waiting for the one buyer to take the offer (in which case they managed to part a fool and their money), or they were told by someone to get rid of their stash and this is the approach they chose to ensure it will never happen.
