For the attention of any vegans in the UK who like Thai food, I think Maesri green curry paste is the best readily available. It's made in Thailand. You'll need to go to an Asian shop to get it, as I've never seen it on sale elsewhere. The supermarket pastes are absolute dreck. It's one of these convenience products that I think rocks in terms of convenience and flavour bang for your buck. I had it with some runner beans, tenderstem broccoli, sugar snaps, 4 Scotch Bonnet chillies and This Isn't pieces. The curry was only for me so I was generous with the chillies, as I like a lot of heat
"Analysis of Pacific Ocean sediments shows doubling atmospheric CO2 might raise Earth’s temperature by up to 14 degrees, exceeding IPCC predictions, with historical data indicating significant future climate impacts."
I think this decision is terrible. That said, the SNP are being backed into a corner with the reduction in the block grant. They're deliberately being maneuvered into a position where cuts are inevitable. Then people will justifiably get angry and they'll switch their support to Labour, probably
I watch on with dismay as otherwise sensible people high five each other over facile Obama penis jokes and how great their "team" is generally. All the while children are literally getting their heads blown off. Somebody on here with the other day with a large following was admonishing anyone who dared raise the issue of Gaza. Apparently, there are other conflicts going on and there's nothing special about Gaza, and even broaching it is helping Trump
Today's track of the day is "The Pit" by Public Service Broadcasting. I'm going to see them live in October. Elsewhere on the album from which this track derives there are archival samples boasting of a "secure future in Welsh coal" and "having enough coal for another four hundred years". It does an excellent job of highlighting modern society's hubris regarding the environmental damage it causes.
There are so many better words than "weird", speaking as yet another weird person in this thread. Fascist, cruel, evil, psychopathic etc are all so much better. This isn't a 1980s Highschool movie. It's actually okay to be weird these days
We've through capitalism rewarded and promoted to positions of authority the worst, most cruel, bigoted of our number. I suppose what's somewhat concerning at the moment is the very fact that these fascists used to at least try and disguise their message, but more and more of them are out there now, e.g. Musk, just openly tossing around white supremacist rhetoric
"“Effective accelerationists” argue that human problems are best solved by unrestricted technological development."
It's my belief that humans as a species lack the awareness, intelligence and responsibility to wield even basic technologies like agriculture safely and sustainably. The idea that we should allow arguably the least well suited demographic, i.e. unhinged narcissists, have unfettered access to godlike technology seems kinda unwise
The public thinks climate change is just everything getting hotter. But it's not. It's war. It's famine. It's a lack of clean drinking water. It's forced displacement. It's heatwaves that will kill thousands in a single day. In essence, it's a complete collapse of the biosphere with resulting societal collapse.
