Asinine comments like this are exactly the issue. Rather than taking it defensively, perhaps listen to disabled people 🙏🏼

I won’t soon forget my frequent warnings about antisemitism in the #ActuallyAutistic community.

I won’t soon forget how many here devolved at the first chance you could to indulge in that age old vice, antisemitism.

I won’t soon forget the violent and hateful messages and dog piles I’ve been subjected to by people who used and continue to use me for my support.

Antisemitism is a cancer. It isn’t OK. It isn’t OK to be a whatabouter. It isn’t OK to deny it exists.

This isn’t hard.

Advocating for yourself as an #ActuallyAutistic human in public isn’t a small feat.

It’s a huge victory and not only helps you, but all autistic people.

More #ActuallyAutistic humans live in Autistic Burnout than previously thought.

But it isn't a foregone conclusion that your entire life will be spent in Burnout. Even if it's been decades.

Important to remember that Burnout is caused and sustained by lack of connection to your autistic self and a denial of your autistic needs.

I've been working on a definition for Autistic Burnout for the past couple of years.

To date, there are a number of definitions and understandings of this most dangerous phenomenon.

To me, Autistic Burnout is a profound and enduring state of exhaustion paired with a partial to total loss of particular abilities resulting from the chronic and relentless denial of our fundamental autistic needs by society and those around us and an overabundance of demands and stimuli without sufficient recovery time.

It is characterized by several interconnected factors, including a continual sense of emotional and sensory overwhelm, a persistent dysregulation of our nervous system, and a profound alienation stemming from both camouflaging, not being heard or understood, and at times, encountering disbelief or even hostile responses to one's autistic experiences.

We can continue to break this down into a bunch of various nuances and we should. There are levels (some say 4, some 5, some 6) and I think all can agree that not all burnouts are the same. I think we can also agree that more #ActuallyAutistic humans are in burnout than we may suspect.

Don’t you dare tell me that Jews aren’t being targeted and having revenge taken against us due to what’s happening in Israel-Palestine.

Stop holding us collectively responsible.

To those who have reached out, left comments, or written, THANK YOU. It feels good to be seen.

Unfortunately for most of you, you value my words, my help, my spaces, and my time only when it suits you. Like others before who have used Jewish people for their wares, only to dump them on the side when things are hard or no longer convenient, you are no different.

The same goes for how many of you use autistic and other disabled people on this platform and in the wild. You will engage, follow, share, support, send us messages and join us in our spaces, using our labour for free. And we do it out of love and solidarity.

But the second you understand that our identity or nationality isn’t something you like (which is bigoted too btw) you drop us. Harass us.

Using disabled people and autistic people like utensils is ableist. Your solidarity was never solidarity. It was you using me for my labour.

Using my Israeli disabled labour was only convenient when you didn’t know about that first part. You know what that makes you? Fill in the blank

It’s truly amazing how many of you showed your true faces.

Showed your faces for being ableist, racist, antisemites, bigots, and worse.

LARPers. Orientalists. Whether you call me a murderous Israeli or a self-hating Jew, no matter what side of this you’re on, you’re a fraud.

I’m a human. I’m a Jewish human. I’m an Israeli human. I’m an #ActuallyAutistic human. And if you can’t remember my humanity, why do you think I owe you anything?

As many of you here, and as all of you who have met or worked with me, know, I am an Israeli.

I’m also a life long peace activist for Israel-Palestine.

Unfortunately, MANY of you have taken the last few days to attack me, call me a murderer, lecture me about the world I grew up and lived in for 35+ years of my life, dare to speak down to me and over me, erase my history and lifelong dedication for Palestinian rights, and even wished me to die.

Others of you have taken the opportunity to call me an antisemite, a race traitor, a horrible person, a hypocrite, a terrorist, and erase my history and lifelong dedication to Jewish life and making Israel a better place to live.

Yet, VERY FEW of you have asked how I am. How is my family? How are my friends? How are YOU?

Well, no. I have my family & friends in deep crisis. Many have lost their own other family and friends, parents, siblings, kids and lovers - some by bullets, others by fire, others by kidnapping. A comrade of mine lost his parents. An other had their 16 year old son taken into Gaza. Too many people I know or am connected to have been murdered or taken. And I use the word murder, not killed, because sleeping civilians in their home or at a party are not military combattants. Babies aren’t targets.

I also have Palestinian friends who have lost families in Gaza from the bombs currently falling from IDF planes. My heart aches for them too as theirs does for me.

But many of you only care about death when one side fits your own narrative and unformed and ignorant beliefs.

So no, I’m not OK. I’m not OK at all.

Where did this come from?

The main “signs of lying and dishonesty” in Western NT society are all autistic traits. How did THAT come to be?

We know the answer.

@robrecht @actuallyautistic it’s quite common as far as I can tell in the communities where I have lived and worked. The stereotype you mention of “being too honest” is only applied to white male autistics who are “clearly autistic” (whatever that means to people - yet another fake thing) and only in particular contexts.

I did not say that the signs of lying are autistic traits. I explicitly reject this. It’s autistic traits which have been co-opted by NTs to be used in reference to liars. Very different. I’m sorry that my prose was not more clear.
