@dansup@pixelfed How much money could they offer you so that you would stop working on pixelfed and/or relicense your work to Meta's copyright? Such an amount of money is likely a rounding error for them. I don't think any small open source project is considered a threat to them, only one that has major financial backing to promote and fund it. Your work is appreciated but how much is it worth to you?
@WarnerCrocker It's astounding that someone who is so absolutely unworthy inspires such allegiance. It is a cautionary tale of what happens when one's predispositions are endlessly reinforced in a social media bubble until a shared cult identity consumes one's individuality and capacity for reason.
@WarnerCrocker I see an opportunity here for the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Certainly they can help fulfill this need to educate youth about America and its founders faith in pasta.
@randahl it's very easy to prognosticate how to deal with Russia, but if you are wrong, it could lead to millions of dead. Russia could defend its own soil with tactical nukes. Have you gamed out these possibilities? And fear and the fog of war can rapidly escalate in a nuclear battlefield. It's easy to recommend these steps if you don't think the war won't come home to you.
@anderspuck@randahl Perhaps you could address the issue of Russia using tactical nuclear weapons on its own territory to stop an invasion, which was not in progress when fhe video was released. Also, perhaps address the issue of nuclear command and control because NATO may move its own tactical nuclear weapons closer to the front in response to first use, and if battlefield commanders could launch with their own authority which could lead to uncontrolled escalation.
@WarnerCrocker I have been working on the perennial wildflower meadow on my modest 0.8 acres in Lake County for a couple of years now. It's slowly being established.
@adamconover Google solved a real problem with its search engine. It leveraged this into one of the most fantastically lucrative inventions in history. But it's always been an arms race, and Google is now losing. Similarly, the fediverse could become a victim of its own success if it becomes too valuable of a medium. The fediverse's relative obscurity is working in its favor right now, but the real test of its viability is to come.
@adamconover I am sure the irony is not lost on Adam and many others that they have to criticize Google on Google's media. I guess Adam doesn't ruin everything.
I am an engineer that makes open source hardware projects in my spare time. You can find my github with all the projects at:https://www.github.com/profdc9I wish to promote them because I hope the projects will be both practically useful and help engineering education. I am amateur station KW4TI. Also, I am a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with experience in Optics, Radar, Electromagnetics, and Programming.
