@mattl I think "We can switch to Chromium" is a great tool when negotiating the amount of revenue Firefox gets out of the search engine money. It's a surprisingly low percentage, but still a large number. Interestingly if you *buy* an Ubuntu machine from Dell or Lenovo, you get Firefox *and* Chrome (not Chromium) which may be why you might think that.
@mattl Ubuntu is the largest (by userbase) Linux desktop. It ships Firefox by default. Firefox on Ubuntu is/was a significantly sized userbase. Significant from Mozilla's perspective. So you could argue yes, Firefox is defacto the "default" (graphical) browser on desktop Linux.
@killyourfm Make a prototype in something simple and free like GDevelop (which is awesome btw). Gamedev ideas are often the easy bit, I have hundreds. Finding the time and energy to implement them, less so :)
Hmm. ? As usual, I'm stuck on the hardest part of setting up a new PC, coming up with a unique host name?. Typically I use computers from sci-fi like HAL, WOPR, Mother, Hactar and so on. Given this is a Z13, I think it needs something Z or thirteen related... Suggestions?
Ok, if this "toot" works then I successfully migrated the Mastodon instance ubuntu.social from a crusty old HP Microserver in my office onto a decently spec Linode box. ? ?
After getting laid off last week (?) I moved my workstation setup back home ? from the rented office ? space. Decided to try out the middle monitor in vertical mode for the first time. Wonder how long this will last...
