@inthehands @heidilifeldman Agreed and add in they wanted to avoid the judge looking at those grand jury instructions and referirrng her to the DC Bar ethics committee. In local news coverage earlier there was a suggestion that during the rehab, before the water was added, they drove Trump through the pool area and the tires damaged the liner. How funny would that be if true.

@heidilifeldman I find this ludicrous. Local news covered the liner fiasco before Hearn touched the pool. In last week's local reporting they stated that one witness in the grand jury specifically said the pool liner was already damaged and they couldn't say for a fact that Hearn made it worse. That's why his lawyers wanted the judge to look at the grand jury transcripts.

Our progressive candidate to replace Eleanor Holmes Norton won outright on Election night. Our progressive candidate for mayor (the Black woman Trump hates) received her opponent's concession today. Have to wait for ranked choice process to see if we were successful in turning out the old Democratic Party Committee. If we all fight...we can win. The message is, get off the couch and go join a movement (not a moment... a movement).

He said...you're going to feel it. Was down for two days. Most people I know had worse reaction from #2. But it was worth it. Just don't schedule anything for the day following #2.

Our electric company, Pepco, went to 2FA a few months back. Since then I have not been able to log into my account because when they send me a code and I input it, the processing times out. I called customer service and they asked whether I was using Google Chrome or Edge. I said neither. They replied it works best with them. Me - I don't use either. Them: we can't help you, we only test with those two! Back to a check and a stamp.

Apropos nothing, I just spent 10 days in another country of mostly brown and black people, living life as if I was not American. It was glorious. Just being a regular human worrying about regular issues, including poverty and inequality, but without the clown show attached. My soul was rejuvenated. I had forgotten what peace felt like....

@inthehands I'm also conflicted by this. It was started by a group of young people. It is gaining traction but it was not organized by a coalition of groups including labor. I think a nationwide strike is being planned for later in the year. Nonetheless, if people can support them I think they should, but don't be disappointed if it doesn't get the 1/23 kind of numbers.

@inthehands @gooba42 I can say pretty confidently from the DC experience that I.C.E and the other feds like HSI, SS, CBP, started taking pictures of observers here months ago. I assume they have dossiers in every area and match that up with other state sponsored surveillance so they know who people are. I don't know if I.C.E has kill lists but history teaches us repeatedly...that the FBI and CIA have made kill lists of US citizens...repeatedly.

@inthehands Sad to see that Americans need this in order to snatch them out of the trance state they are in. In every struggle, unfortunately, they are those who become martyrs. The real question is how many will it take before Americans decide to fight for survival? I don't know but DC, Chicago and LA stand with you. We must all stand together.

@inthehands exactly this. I am constantly amazed at the organizing going on here. The young people have really stepped up and I am so proud of them. I just worry about them burning out because they are so intense. Using my old age wisdom to tell them to pace themselves. What I meant by ground zero is that my neighborhood is where they kidnap people from! Our mantra here: Don't comply in advance. Take up space (stay out in public). Prioritize joy. Do fun stuff too. We can win this.

@inthehands We had retirees during the thick of the military occupation but that kind of died out. Some of them diverted to working with advocacy in Congress. I'm probably one of the few old folks on the street side. But we have all the federal workers who were fired and laid off, as well as the USAID folks, and let me tell you....they are highly motivated! 😆 Folks just need to bear up for the long term fight.

@inthehands I feel your pain so intensely. I live 2 doors down from one of the ground zero points in D.C. The I.C.E. tactics are exhausting. Hope this will help in some way: we all had to pick which kind of actions we will respond to so we didn't spend all day every day running from pillar to post trying to verify info. Use the hyper-local technique - responding groups organized by neighborhood, even for mutual aid. We're still under attack but managing better now. Don't forget to breathe.

Looking at the recent pile of books, I realized I hadn’t posted titles in a while. Some are from the Most Anticipated African Authors list of the year. I like to scour that one for authors I don’t already know. Normally, I’m mostly a sci-fi, speculative fiction reader but I do branch out to keep up with diverse authors from all over the world.
