In one of my first real jobs, I commuted up Route 128 to I-93 around Boston.
One rainy morning, a tractor-trailer was cut off and flipped on its side directly in front of me, blocking most of the roadway. I pulled over to the median and got out. The truck driver was standing where his passenger window used to be, swearing and collecting his papers, and said he was ok, so I drove around the wreck to work. Yeah, like I need that in my life.

No, ZMODEM was devised by Chuck Forsberg, who was, and I assume still is, a major prick about 'inventing' it, unlike Christiansen.

Back in college, one of my friends, who was an adept sleight-of-hand magician, passed his science requirement by programming an Apple ][ to help him carry out a simple misdirection, convincing a physics professor that the computer was reading their mind.
The only difference here is that Schmidt is performing the trick on himself.
