If contemporary British police procedurals have taught me anything, it's that apparently DIs must think it's rude to text, because they're always trying to call someone who can't pick up, or whose phone rings while they're trying to sneak up on the perp, or just think their ex-partner or the junior is wasting their time, and decline their calls, eight times.

A few weeks ago I stumbled across a bug in #HomeAssistant and tracked it down to an incorrect value in an enumeration.

I probably could have fixed it and submitted a PR, but I'm a user, not a dev for HA, so had no idea what the potential for breaking things downstream were, and it wasn't my language of choice.

So I submitted a highly detailed issue, including a highlighted excerpt from the device datasheet showing what the correct value should be, and where the offending enum was located.

A day or so later, I saw that the maintainer handed it to some codebot to fix, but at least they appeared to check the bot's fix and told it to stay in its lane about some aspect of the process.

Seriously, ask anyone you know for a referral to a Personal Shopper.

They'll provide you with curated choices that meet the requirements you do have, such as avoiding fabrics you don't like, or no skirts, or whatever.

You try them at home, not in a fluorescent-lit glorified animal pen.

I bought my first laser printer at an office equipment surplus sale in the early '90s for $80. It was a Xerox behemoth that weighed close to 100 pounds, and you poured toner into it from a bottle.

It emulated a Xerox Diablo daisywheel printer, so had the equivalent of four fonts, I think.

It drew over a kilowatt when printing, and made all the lights flicker in my apartment at the time.
I abandoned it to a recycler when I moved out.

At the moment I have a monochrome Brother MFC, and a Xerox color laser.

Now, hear me out… What if door dash or whoever *planted* this story with every intention of having it exposed as a hoax, so that when the true, almost identical story inevitably comes out, any attempt to search for it or ask a LLM about it will return "it was a hoax".

My pharmacy insurance is handled by CareMark. Who owns/is owned by CVS.

In my state, if I want a 90-day supply of any of my meds, the only pharmacy that can fill that is… CVS. Out of spite, I use a different pharmacy, but have to refill every 30 days. The cost works out the same, they just have to turn the knife…
