(Offered by the pole studio I go to--where I've been taking classes for several years and I pretty much never mention it because people have *thoughts* about pole. But I love spinning.)
@theresnotime I have my laptop stickers on a (blue) case, so if I need to replace mine without losing the stickers I just need to get the same model... this plan will definitely work indefinitely.
Aside: while powerlifting is still the thing I train for competitively, somewhere along the line I fell into being a regular at Crossfit. I did not expect to like it but it turns out I am just competitive enough to enjoy that every day is a little competition but not so much that it kills me when I lose. (Also the people at my gym are cool and I enjoy suffering with them.)
Posts behind a CW because, well, everyone else got tired of people talking about Crossfit 10 years ago. 😄
I was disappointed when on minute 4 I had to drop back and take the outer plates off on my turn, figured I was tired.
You might guess faster than I did that it was not 170, because I didn't figure out until the 8 minutes were over that it was actually 180kg, or about 98% of the 1 rep max I posted last week, and I am pretty happy to have done that 3 times in 3 minutes!
Blooper/victory: strength portion of Crossfit workout was 1 deadlift/min for 8 min, aiming for heavy but not a max out. Class was super crowded today so literally every plate in the gym was in use and people were sharing bars. I started off working in with someone aiming for 170kg, but after warming up we reconfigured and both jumped in with a third person. The bar was loaded with an absolutely chaos mix of 25s, 10s, 15s, and 5s so I couldn't easily tell what was on it; looked like 170?
@aram I do not have one, but I do have a harmonium that I would give away free to good home. (It was a rescue that I do not play enough to justify keeping. Sadly, local pickup only.)
Got roped in to sub 1st bassoon in a local orchestra for a performance of the Nutcracker tonight. I know I've heard it many times but it's amazing how much music is in there I don't remember at all...
Santa came early and gave me a deadlift PR for Christmas; 405 lbs. (A very small improvement over my last one, but finally broke the 4-plate barrier. Even if plate #4 was made up of smaller increments because all the other 45s were in use.)
Left for a bit but I see there's a party over here now so I guess it's a good time to come back! Fortunately nothing interesting has happened in the world in the interim so it will be easy to catch up,.
Bay Area folks! Come hear me sing with Sacred & Profane chamber choir tonight (Berkeley), tomorrow (SF), or the 3rd (Santa Rosa) with a selection of songs on the theme of peace: https://www.sacredprofane.org/concerts
@evan Plane. I wanted to take the train but the only available options for my travel dates involved several stops and half a day, and car rental was 3x as expensive and involved driving in some places I didn't want to try driving.
(I usually drive an EV, which won't make the trip without several recharges.)
