@xenotar@TomSwirly@Sarahw@tompearce49 It should be considered child abuse. It's ironic that people in other 3rd world countries beg for vaccines for their kids.
@br00t4c "The Yemenis have targeted nearly 100 vessels with missiles and drones since Israel launched its war on Gaza last year saying they seek to deter Israeli aggression against the Palestinians."
However, these planes were downed by friendly fire, so that's bad planning.
I didn’t know where to look, but spent the afternoon wandering around, the only person in the area crazy enough to be out in the weather. I finally had to admit defeat and headed back. I was half an hour later than the time I had given my fellow to meet me and by the time I saw him in the parking lot, I was beginning to feel the effort and cold of the day. I got into the car and he exclaimed, “did you see the owl?!!!” I looked at him. “What owl?” 2/n
Many years ago, when snow was more of a thing in the Toronto area, I had heard of snowy owls at the Leslie Spit. I had never seen one, so I bundled up and had my fellow drop me off (walking in cold and snow wasn’t his thing). It was about -20-ish C, snow was at least knee deep, but I had dressed for the weather, had grown up in lots of northern Canada & loved this weather, and off I set. 1/n
Since then, I've seen lots of snowy owls, and those suckers can be so easy to miss. They are on the ground, on fence and power poles, rooftops, in trees, they can be anywhere. /end
Many years later, we went out for a drive to the east of the city, towards Whitby, and went for a walk around a little harbour after a big snowstorm after freezing rain, and, unexpectedly, I saw my first snowy owl.
Because of its dark bars, this is likely a female owl. Contrary to what Harry Potter movies show, only the adult males are pure white. 4/n
“I don’t know, I’ve been sitting here about half an hour and owls have been catching mice in the parking lot, so cool!” I guess I scared them when I got into the car or they had eaten enough, because the owls didn’t come back as we sat while I warmed up. I did finally go out to where he pointed the last one had flown and was able to see a great horned owl sitting in a tree on the other side of the parking lot fence. Took a bad photo, and that was it for my great owl hunt. 3/n
I went to high school in an area with a lot of unions and one thing that was impressed upon the kids was to never cross a picket line and to honour strikes. We even learned about the history of the local unions. People didn't cross them; if they did, their neighbours wouldn't forget.
There is a good reason and solidarity with the working class is important to everyone, except the exploitation class.
Don't cross picket lines, and that includes buying from business with striking workers.
@zleap Maybe. The incoming government is really good at creating new outrages to hide current ones. It was why folk were so exhausted after his last regime, it was too difficult to keep up with all the atrocities being committed.
@zleap I actually wonder if the billionaires will put out a hit on him, to keep this from getting to court because the court case is going to lift up the carpet of their industry to show a lot of crap they've been trying to sweep underneath, hoping people remained too passive to check. A lot of stuff is already being revealed.
@zleap Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how the case progresses. Will it make a difference? CEOs are scared, but the incoming government is full of billionaires rubbing their hands with glee over the prospect of taking away existing regulations, so it's possible that they will create laws that will exacerbate what the woman currently arrested and in jail for ending a frustrating phone call with a health insurance company with the words that were on the bullet. Make it illegal to protest.
Hmmm..."Suspect in killing of CEO charged with murder as an act of terrorism"
It's possible that the CEO ran a company that terrorized so many people that more people support the murderer than feel empathy for the CEO, responsible for incalculable pain, suffering, and death.
Poor rich exploiters are terrified the poors are going to rise up and hold them accountable & they think this will put them back in their place. Interesting.
An old VR shot from a pier looking at the sun rise over Oakland, lighting up the Ferry Building. There is a brief time of daylight before the terminal turns off their Port of San Franciso light.
@CharlieActual@mcSlibinas@randahl You are assuming people are “blasting around” and that the car speed limiting is accurate. That’s a lack of experience and imagination.
You’re driving a country road behind someone going much slower than the speed limit. He knows it, just likes taking it easy, but he’s considerate, so he puts on his blinkers, slows down, pulls over to the edge of the road to make it easy for you to pass, but he doesn’t stop.
@CharlieActual@mcSlibinas@randahl To pass safely, you need to speed up for a bit. It’s a completely safe maneuver, lots of time before the corner, except your car decides as you are passing the other vehicle that you should suddenly slow down. You had plenty of time to safely pass and get back in your lane, but now a car is coming around the turn headed towards you in oncoming traffic and all of you are unsafe.
I'm still here, I have photos to prove it. (All photos I post are mine unless specifically stated otherwise.)Proud Canadian. (mostly)My non-pinned posts are set to delete after 2 months. No alt text, no boost.http://www.carolynstampeen.com
