Would he have entered the enclosure of a leopard?

@flowerpot @benroyce Of course, a Florida man is involved. I wonder if he truly understood the birds he decided to raise.

" The National Zoo's...enclosures were built with doors and gates to separate them from humans who needed to enter.

"At no time, ever, do we ever go in with the cassowary," he said. "Not because they're mean, but because we know how dangerous they could be if they got spooked for any reason.""

@benroyce This is adorable: "Observed behavior at a wildfowl center in Uganda describes what happens when someone bows to their resident shoebill Sushi – and what happens when they don’t. When visitors greet Sushi with a bow, the greeting is returned, and visitors may even be able to touch him. When visitors do not greet him with a bow, the bird moves away, and will not allow visitors to touch or approach him."

The real story behind the tranquility of this shot: There is a salt water marsh behind & to the right, and this is dusk. So...I was standing in water as deep as I could without compromising my camera and camera bag with the tide still incoming. Less flesh exposed to bites. :)

I wish White men would stop freaking out about a decline in fertility rates.

Also, the ones who are freaking out about fertility rates are the creepiest men. Stop being creepy.

The human race has bigger threats to our sustainability than fertility rates. Climate change, war, pollution...

With 8.2 billion people, we really are in no danger of dying off by any but self-inflicted extinction.

@eff "There are also fears that police could use fingerprints stored on government databases."

    So PIN passwords.

"Most modern phones & some laptops encrypt their data using a strong cryptographic keys only accessible when the user unlocks it with the passcode...

If the device is locked but not turned off, the key remains loaded on the device’s memory. Powerful hacking tools made by companies like Cellebrite can recover the key and decipher the data."

When the orange regime is done, US lawmakers are going to have to get busy codifying things that had been left for civility, and make laws holding the president accountable for his pledge to the constitution.

Elsewhere, I saw someone disheartened by trans awareness day because of the trolls who also participate. A reminder that an 85-yr-old conservative American man changed his mind because he was presented with new information, which caused a new awareness of a world bigger than that he grew up in. Education & being visible makes more of an impact than many think.

‘Just plain old Larry’ gives reason for hope of better things.

David Suzuki was the first celebrity I saw in the subway when I first moved to Toronto. :)

I grew up watching The Nature of Things, so it was a big deal. Who is more Canada?

He presents Sarah Harmer with the Humanitarian Award. They met on a gravel pit during a protest. :)

And 89!!! His passion keeps him looking much younger.
