@shoofle yes, and I'm doing that with ChatGPT, too. I use it as a jumping off point for research, and don't take it's output as gospel.

I think for me it replaces my previous research process: complicated Google queries, reading through Wikipedia articles and websites, and then writing it up as bullet points.

I know a lot of people are upset that chatGPT doesn't credit original authors, but I wasn't doing that in my previous work for private research anyway. ??♂️

This is a really interesting poll.

I'm an about-weekly. I use it for cocktail recipes, cooking, gardening, and research for work and school.

I've found it really helpful. I almost never use the output directly; it's almost always for research.

Occasionally I'll share the content directly with colleagues; "here's what chatGPT says." I haven't ever passed off the output as my own work.

I guess it was nice of him to warn everyone how to deal with the consequences of his own actions.

@quinn But to your other point: as someone who has a physical issue that can be controlled with behaviour change (I struggle with being overweight), I can say pretty conclusively that in practice it's really hard, even when you know what to do and why it is important.

If you have sleep problems you can solve with behavioral interventions and you don't, I'm sorry, I kind of hate you for it. I shouldn't, I'm just flawed this way.

People who recreationally have mental and physical illnesses are just super upsetting for me.

@mcc my dad was the head of Intellivision in the 80s and they licensed Burger Time for home consoles. Consequently, we had a full Burger Time standup cabinet in our garage growing up. One of the designers showed my dad a pattern to get 256 free lives on the first screen, so we played for hours and hours straight. Lots of good memories in that weird game.
