@nordtrack @jeffcliff @BowsacNoodle @dytha @johndolph @Beomus @lonelyranger Hot take: the weak deserve to perish. If we continually replace our immune systems with man-made immune responses, we'll end up overall weaker as a species.

@jeffcliff @Beomus @BowsacNoodle @dytha @johndolph @lonelyranger @nordtrack All infections and viruses attack the immune system at the end of the day. Some people's immune systems fight it off effectively, some don't. That's evolution.

@jeffcliff @Beomus @BowsacNoodle @dytha @johndolph @lonelyranger @nordtrack It's the same principle tho. If these diseases had hit mankind prior to technology to "combat" them, they woulnd't have ended mankind.

@jeffcliff @Beomus @BowsacNoodle @dytha @johndolph @lonelyranger @nordtrack Probably not even that, but yes. Now you're starting to see the problem, maybe. You're trying to solve with technology problems that technology itself caused.

@jeffcliff @Beomus @BowsacNoodle @dytha @johndolph @lonelyranger @nordtrack btw, if you're ok with culling, what even is your agenda? Why cull the strong and keep the weak, who are wholly dependent on medical intervention? How does that make sense?

@jeffcliff @Beomus @BowsacNoodle @dytha @johndolph @lonelyranger @nordtrack The endpoint of this logic is obviously transhumanism. Man will eventually conquer nature with enough SCIENCE!
Of course, it will mean the extinction of man as we know him, so there's that. ISTM that your way of thinking depends on mankind assimilating enough people who will instantly die if anyone opens a bag of peanuts within a mile radius of them into the Borg. Then you only have to worry about computer viruses!

@jeffcliff @Beomus @BowsacNoodle @dytha @johndolph @lonelyranger @nordtrack Yeah? What's the alternative? What's your plan to avoid ever-greater dependence on technology in lieu of natural immunity?

@jeffcliff @Beomus @BowsacNoodle @dytha @johndolph @lonelyranger @nordtrack It's just cope. You want to deal with the problems of technology with still more techology, because the alternative is heinous. It's understandable, but it's cope. There's no end-game path to the technological solution other than transhumanism. We're already sufficiently "advanced" technologically where the concept of human dignity is a farce. You want to double down in hopes that your non-existent offspring may somehow save it by some means you can't describe. There's nothing there, however. Life is red in tooth and claw, and trying to make everything "fair" and considering "all life equally valid" is just bullshit. If anything is going to make mankind extinct, it's certainly tech, outside of a comet strike or whatever.

@p @amerika @Grandtheftautism @gh0st @hj @lanodan @sjw Weed made me gradually more self-conscious. I concur that a big part of the allure is being naughty. NGL, I judge weed smokers, even though that was a big part of my life for like a decade or more.

@p @straw I watched this for longer than I'd prefer to admit.
