@lina maybe yeah. Going for the parasocial angle seems to drive engagement to the sky, just making good content doesn't pay in the end. Just think about all the incredible animators on youtube getting only a small fraction of the views the latest hypeman gets. It's a shame, really
@lina yup, it all went downhill at some point and slowly turned into the cult of personality it now is. No clue how or why that happens though, it's very strange to me
@lina this was before the golden days of youtube, he'd just play games or make parody infomercials with his monotone, emotionless voice https://youtu.be/gDmcL3LBEo4
idubbbz was amazing at the time, but fell off hard too. I'm still watching Cold Ones from time to time, max and chad held up pretty good. Couldn't imagine anyone doing the content from back then nowadays though, seems impossible
@lina i really do miss the times when the guy would just make a monstrous cum burger in papas burgeria and upload that shit without a second thought. Used to laugh my ass off while getting drunk with a buddy watching him playing flash games, good times
@lina@Inginsub@eidolon no clue how they made that work in the 4kids version over here, where no one ever died but went to the shadow realm or moved to another country :nostale_altr:
@lina@Inginsub@eidolon absolutely yeah. If my memory serves right it was meant to be straight up horror though, with yugi driving people to straight up suicide and people burning alive for cheating. Can't find shit on google about it though, how did search engines get this fucking bad
@lina@Inginsub@eidolon yugioh wasn't intended to be a kids series initially, many of its more schizo elements stem from the original series which was about playing games in which the loser would die in horrible ways. Card game took off though and the rest is history
@Suiseiseki got you. This was just meant to be a silly joke, not any form of meaningful discussion. I've only ever seen TLS referred to as such in technical discussions, colloquially SSL is just a catch-all term for whatever makes https work. Saying "oh no i forgot to renew my TLSv1.2 and/or TLSv1.3 certificate" seems like referring to one's roomba with its serial number in casual conversation to me :nostale_altf: Thanks for the heads-up though
@adiz@bot sorry, rambling a bit here, because this intrigues me. that's perfectly normal, you'll get used to any situation with enough time. It's what made humans so successful on this planet, we're able to adapt to anything. But our standards adapt with our situation. Don't focus on chasing happiness, it will always be faster than you. Assess what you've got and make the best of it. Happiness will come to you when you least think about it and are just doing what you love. Money and success don't seem to bring you happiness, but they're great tools to realize yourself in a way few people can. Just buying a house is a lifelong dream for some, it's just another step for you: That doesn't mean you're a PoS though, even if you're not content with your situation. Don't force yourself to be happy & grateful, these forced feelings will come to stab you in the back whenever you're feeling down again. Instead identify what exactly is causing them, find the root so to say, and work on that. "Leaving everything behind" is usually the symptom of a much deeper rooted problem. I wouldn't necessarily throw away this feeling of frustration entirely. Turn it into motivation to reach your goals, whatever they may be. Lust for adventure may be the very thing that enables your kids to have a great childhood if you take them adventuring with you! Try to remind yourself why you chose this life over your old one. Even if you feel now that you were happier back then, there had to be a reason for you to leave.
@Moon nextcloud offers a free desktop app that is simple enough, integrates into windows explorer too (and into dolphin for that matter, can't speak about other filemanagers). Allows to change sharing options etc. without the web interface too; sorry for the german in the screenshots, can't be fucked to set my windows to english rn :FF_Cactar:
Only real negative thing about it is the occasional update nagging.
@Moon nextcloud imo. Setup might be a bit of a pain but after that it just werks, everything is available everywhere. There's a good sharing app too, allows you to set custom urls for shared folders or to create a drop folder url in which anyone can drop files for you. Might be overkill for just files though, i'm pretty much organising/syncing everything on there by now (notes, tasks, kanban, calenders, contacts, etc.) Also the office extensions are great for collab work but those require even more setup
