@BeAware I use Assisted Intelligence because that is the role I want AI to play. It also makes it less scary to non-technical people. Most AI today in Canva, Descript etc is there as a tool to help me not replace me.
1/2 - In this episode of Smarter Podcasting, host Niall Mackay and guest Sam Sethi discuss the concept of Podcasting 2.0, focusing on three primary challenges in podcasting: discovery, interactivity, and monetization. Sam explains various new features introduced in Podcasting 2.0, such as the person tag, chapters, transcripts, and cross-app comments, which enhance discoverability and audience engagement.
They also delve into the utilization of assisted intelligence (AI) for automating podcast production tasks. Additionally, Sam introduces TrueFans, which offers innovative monetization options for podcasters through micropayments.
The podcast concludes with thoughts on the future of podcasting, including live broadcasting and integrating music into podcasts.
@hello all Fediverse apps need to support lightning wallets and offer SAT micropayments. Many podcasting 2.0 apps like TrueFans.fm give all new users a lightning wallet and have enabled one click top up for wallets via Stripe.
For marketplaces like this to exist they need to build a wallet and allow users to pay in either SATs or Fiat Currencies. The Fediverse like the Web needs a micropayment system. A boost with 10 SATs means more than just a comment. NOSTR has built support for Bitcoin SATs
@docpop@dave@adam@james Love the concept of using the Fediverse as a platform for discovery of many different types of content.
TrueFans is building an AP integration to help discover podcasts. But the irony at the end. Come to the walled garden of Apple to download Mammoth. And he can’t see the irony of that.
Stop using closed proprietary App Stores and stop using platforms like iOS - use the open web to build PWAs.Don’t advocate for open standards and then use closed platforms!
Hello Fediverse! TrueFans.social is live - you can now search for accounts on TrueFans. Next week we will add follow and publish. @dave@adam@evan@chris@mike
@BeAware@mosseri my worry is it's the same old Meta, promise something like full federation so the crowd turns up but then never deliver. Remember the Facebook Business Pages where you still had to pay in order to reach the people who chose to follow you. I won't ever trust Meta. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times, shame on both of us.
@BeAware I announced last week I am leaving Twitter in two weeks after nearly 20 years on the site. TrueFans will be a ActivityPub client and part of the fediverse. I will use Mastodon and Threads as well. No need for Twitter. And yes I can't call it X. Talk about brand destruction.
X, Elon Musk’s social network, is to put live streams behind a premium paywall. Is Elon trying to turn Twitter into OnlyFans now that he has allowed porn back on the site. Elon will go low and dirty to make money. https://podnews.net/update/wondercraft-ad-studio-launch
@chrismessina this is great news now for meta to allow me to share images from my Rayban sunglasses to threads like I can insta, fb or WhatsApp and then I can federate from my sunglasses.
@tchambers@mike I'll make sure you get it first next week. We already have the inbox/outbox concept in TrueFans. Below is my Activity Outbox showing 30+ verbs we have specific to podcasting. e.g play, comment, stream, listen etc which compliment the standard vocab verbs like follow, join etc.
We are spinning up our Activity Pub Server and then will allow users to publish their Activity from their outbox.
@mike Thanks Mike. I am a big fan of the podcast so excited for each episode. I am also producing an ActivityPub client but focused on Podcasting. So we have written a new namespace to compliment the current ActivityPub Vocab.
We will now turn on our gamification engine. It means users can once again earn §5K sats/rewards for completing simple onboarding tasks which help train the user on how to use TrueFans.
In the words of Rocky "Adrian we did it". Today TrueFans has enabled one-click recurring payment top up of your lightning wallet. Click the subscribe button, choose the amount you want to pay either each week or month and then confirm the payment using either Apple or Google Pay. That's it. We will auto top up your TrueFans lightning wallet.
Last week we also enabled new users to create a TrueFans account and get a free lightning wallet with just two clicks. i.e username and verify email.
@BeAware@adam@dave TrueFans will be a Fediverse client but focused on podcasting, music, blogging, events etc. We have the inbox/outbox metaphor already for all our users ActivityStreams. We have created an additional namespace of verbs to specifically use that compliment the ActivityPub verbs.
Fediverse apps should enable micropayment transactions. However I agree it would be great if AP clients like Mastodon also supported boosts with a payment option.
