    can't speak for other churches, the Romanian church does not believe in tollhouses or any post-death trials. our prayers for the dead are for "a good response to God at their individual judgement", this is literally in the liturgy

    never got rid of his accent but still speaks it like a book and knows the culture and theology through and through. taught sunday school at my hometown's church for years, in romanian, all the kids loved him
    that's who we should be welcoming, a major function of the church is to be a focal point around which an ethnically, linguistically, and ideologically united congregation gathers
    there are plenty of american orthodox churches. american converts not interested in shedding their culture for one objectively superior should fuck off to them
