  never got rid of his accent but still speaks it like a book and knows the culture and theology through and through. taught sunday school at my hometown's church for years, in romanian, all the kids loved him
  that's who we should be welcoming, a major function of the church is to be a focal point around which an ethnically, linguistically, and ideologically united congregation gathers
  there are plenty of american orthodox churches. american converts not interested in shedding their culture for one objectively superior should fuck off to them

Millennials who are actually bothering to attend on a weekly basis disproportionately want the Extraordinary Form and Francis restricting it for no good reason means these people will probably stop going to their regular parish and attend an SSPX mass.

  @LouisConde @SerfnUSA @SuperLutheran This is part of the Replacement. The NO parish in my old old hometown had a great (white) priest. His parish was flooded over a few years with illiterate beanpeople. They go to mass, sit mutely through the service, shove some untaxed dollars from Jose's under the table job at the construction site into the box, and go home without talking to anyone (they have no interest in talking to white people, and they all live in the same apartment building). There's no community, no sense of reverence, no liturgy the spergy papist white guys actually like, and no women, but who gives a fuck. Theres money in the box, and butts in the seats, which means Bishop Buttfuck gets to retain his lifestyle standard.

Even jew-elers can't tell the difference between lab-created diamonds and natural ones, they only know because they have ledgers that track what diamonds are "real". They're boring and ugly as heck, their only real utility is in using them to modify other things. Almost any gemstone is a million times more beautiful, the Diamond industry gaslit people into thinking they're beautiful and romantic. Traditionally they were associated with power and protection rather than love, and less valuable than rubies, though not worthless by any means. I don't have direct access to any Christian lapidaries, though there were many, as far as I can tell Pearls were not to be worn because they are particularly representative of immodesty and wealth. Outside of scripture, they were associated with fertility and worn by women because of their similarity to the moon and nautical origin. Emeralds are holy, and additionally represent chaste love. The Spanish in particular associated then with Mary. Some medival texts seem to warn that this is ascetic chastity and not normal, modest chastity, so they should not be worn by married women. Basically, I don't know what gemstones Christian lapidaries suggest for engagement rings, frankly it seems like engagement rings were more of a product of the extravagance of nobility, as was the use of gems in wedding bands. Normally they only had engravings (fedes were popular) if they had any ornamentation at all.
  
  For aesthetic purposes, I like the organic gemstones, especially amber, but they're more suited to necklaces or earrings.

  If you can find a guy, you can also print off a ring via an STL file in a wax medium, allowing you to cast your own ring too. Then it's just a little bit of metal work!
  
  I also very much like colour in rings. I feel diamonds are more than just overrated, they're a bit boring.
  
  But I'm a weirdo who likes stones like jade, amethyst, rose quartz and low quality ruby more than most of the really valuable gemstones.

Most of the really nice stuff gets snapped up rapidly and even in such a small area it's often hard to find high quality stuff unless you go to where they rip them out of the ground.
  
  There might be a couple really good candidates in a larger piece of low quality rock, but unless you're buying that rock, it's probably just getting sold off as a curiosity in a mineral store or crystal healing place.

Going to a Romanian or Greek or Serbian Orthodox church and flipping out at them because they use their native languages is boorish at best, and subversive at worst.
