@pfefferle So, it only comes when you have had a reply from Mastodon or other fedi platforms, right? Consequently, it's normal not to find the button if I have no comments, or comments from WordPress. Right?
I have an issue with ActivityPub WordPress plugin: I don't find the "reply in the fediverse" button on comments form for single articles. Self-hosted WordPress with ActivityPub plugin. Mentioning @pfefferle#AskFedi#fediverse#ActivityPub#WordPress
@tchambers@pfefferle@index Oh, I'm really glad you talked about this "fediblog" tag. I'll add it to my posts. Even re-publishing old ones if necessary! Thanks to folks who brought this up!
Scared for #accessibility future. I'm afraid that in few months screen readers will start to disappear from mainstream tech, becoming what they have been in 90s, expensive optional dedicated devices for rare people who can afford them. I'm afraid for my job, for my life, for us europeans not rising against all this, I read an article where they said "#disability will not be heavily affected as its market counts" but I don't know what to think, and what people is doing in opposition to this.
@WeirdWriter@disabledvoices I'll give it a read, but unfortunately needing to be quick when producing contents for work, I can't deal with too many accessibility issues.
I just received Testflight invitation for @surf application. And discovered that VoiceOver, assistive tech for blind people, does not read anything. Just says "bottom sheet" twice, and the app's name, then NOTHING. I hope they fix this mess, because this all means cutting blind people off. I won't keep silent in front of yet another accessibility issue. #ableism#accessibility#blind#inclusion#disability#voiceover#fediverse
@ppatel@surf There are many promising apps, I'm currently testing both Surf and @fedicat and I think they should think of accessibility from the start, not because someone of us asks. Accessibility is matter of software quality, not "empathy towards minorities". If a software wants to be human-centered, let it be such completely.
@ppatel@surf@fedicat Every time I talk about accessibility with a devs team, I feel like talking to a waiter serving a soup but, every time, forgetting to provide a spoon. This causes long-term frustration.
I've struggled all afternoon against @buttondown archives because pointing the browser to any e-mail caused a "500 internal exception error". Then my best friend who knows nothing about web, said "maybe you've placed a wrong code?" Having no idea, he was right! The problem actually was between the chair and the keyboard: I implemented subscriber tag based conditions where they don't make sense because archive is PUBLIC. And today, I'll be smarter tomorrow. #newsletter#EpicFail
@_elena There's one thing I don't know how to explain in a positive way, besides placing a ☣️ at the end (sorry, it's an HIV related double-meaning by my best friend whom I quoted). But, seriously, what I can't explain to "mainstream" folks as an advantage, is that Fediverse is very fragmented. You have Mastodon, Friendica, Sharkey and so on, everyone with its pros and cons but even being able to talk to every platform, choice of where to join is not so immediate.
@_elena Sorry, I was almost replying "yeah, proud SHARKY power user!" Then I noticed it's something different! It's not "sharky" the familiar name for Jaws For Windows screen reader. It's a fediverse platform SHARKEY. So, no. Never used it.
@_elena And I'm waiting for December 1st to start my 5th Whamageddon challenge. And to introduce talking HIV virus to the world. It's world AIDS day. And with a beta software I'm testing, I'm trying to give it Talking Hiv's personality - my blog's invented stories' main character as my personal assistant for everyday life even reading visual contents for me. (no virus has been enslaved or tortured for the purpose) - let's see if they accept the training.
A few weeks ago I wrote about newsletter and some accessibility problems in ButtonDown platform. I'm exchanging mails back and forth with the support team and we're doing our best all together to fix everything. Still far from perfect but something is moving forwards. #accessibility#newsletter#CommunityMatters@buttondown
