Could I make a proposal to Fediverse folks? Use "WordPress" hashtag for technical news/tips/help etc, while "wpdrama" for all the "war" related stuff? Couldn't it become more useful? Now I use all of them to let people be aware. Thanks. - Content warnings make sense, but IMHO hashtags are fundamental to give Fediverse a proper order and sense. Even for people following a hashtag via RSS. Accessibility isn't just a disability related subject! #askfedi#fediverse#WordPress#WpDrama
@buttondown Yeah, I had just opened my e-mail program to write you about Gutenberg block possibility for WordPress and you just wrote about it - hope you create it soon!
And, I won't switch back to Drupal. That does no longer fit my needs since long! And WriteFreely has just blogging and I need more customization. ACCESSIBLE, if possible. #WordPress gives me all of this. Now, I'd gladly join the protest "cancel JetPack" but I need: alternative to Akismet (NO VISUAL CAPTCHA), I won't take ActivityPub off! Btw once more with a disability you're forced to trust others' choices more than others. #WordPress#blind#wpdrama#accessibility
On a Spanish blog, @acambronero blogpocket . com, I noticed something new for me: an expandable area saying "reply through mastodon" and once opened it said "copy [permalink] into your server's search box then reply"... Is it something Antonio added manually, or is it included in @pfefferle 's #activitypub#WordPress plugin? Please unveal the mistery to me! Thx!
@pfefferle I'm not this confident with FlipBoard, but I know that it "speaks" to Fediverse. So, if a blog is federated you can follow whomever from any fediverse-compatible service
@pfefferle - #activitypub bug: when using the "reply to" bookmarklet, at beginning of #WordPress post, an unpleasant output for screen readers appears - "↬mastodon.uno/@uaar/113039993829553640" For #fediverse newbies it's not easy to figure it is a post's reply! It should give some output. Such as: "this post comes in reply to [mention] 's post and then a readable text such as "view original conversation" and text could be customizable from "federated reply" block's settings. You follow me?
@pfefferle@matze Yeah, this can be a good compromise. Then, regarding excerpt my question is: if I put a # hashtag or a @ mention in there, does ActivityPub get it as correct reference links, on Fediverse platforms? Using the "note" activity-object it didn't, with "wordpress format" I have yet to test
@pfefferle@matze Yes, I agree with this: if the plugin gets the excerpt, it displays the excerpt; if it detects the "read more" it posts the text before the "read more" block; and I'd also give an alternative of the shortcode. Such as: [ap_message] - blocks - [/ap_message] - PS I disconnected my blog and the other user from the thread as I found another incoherence in Fediverse-to-WordPress interaction but I'll let you know somewhere else.
@network@pfefferle Involving @informapirata in the discussion about post formats too, we were just talking about this in the Italian instance some minutes ago, we talked about how differently various #fediverse platforms treat posts and Informapirata said "I've decided to post just title and excerpt from #WordPress otherwise Mastodon messes up text and pics". And I replied "I'm in touch with Matthias Pfefferle to collect feedbacks about formats and improve it"
@pfefferle@network I'll try some more experiments using the excerpt field. It's worth experimenting! As this blog contains very long stories in it, having a full-length post on display especially for mastodon 500-character-long readers, would be uncomfortable.
@docpop I do my best for #activitypub - what is missing IMHO is detailed documentation. For example the difference between "note" and #WordPress format, if it's possible to write a post mentioning a fediverse account so that they get notified... @_elena managed to do everything of this, I didn't... @pfefferle suggested me to change setting from "note" to "wp format" and it did not give me results I expected...
@NickBohle@docpop@_elena@pfefferle I wonder what happens if I write a paragraph or two, and then put a "more" Gutenberg block, to separate introduction and article. If ActivityPub gets the presentation and then links to the article
Discovered annoying bug on #activitypub plugin: when you use #JetPack native mobile app to publish a post into your #WordPress site, hitting "publish" from there does not post the new article to #fediverse while it works regularly when you use the app to build the draft, then finalize publication through website.
Happy to see that my translations for #activitypub#WordPress plugin have been approved and I'm now trying to cover the readme file, in order to have plugin description translated as well. My 2 cents to help people discover #fediverse - I can't deny I sometimes feel discouraged, having just a couple followers on blog's profile but patience rewards me, I can't be in a rush.
