I just received Testflight invitation for @surf application. And discovered that VoiceOver, assistive tech for blind people, does not read anything. Just says "bottom sheet" twice, and the app's name, then NOTHING. I hope they fix this mess, because this all means cutting blind people off. I won't keep silent in front of yet another accessibility issue. #ableism #accessibility #blind #inclusion #disability #voiceover #fediverse

@ppatel @surf @fedicat Every time I talk about accessibility with a devs team, I feel like talking to a waiter serving a soup but, every time, forgetting to provide a spoon. This causes long-term frustration.

@talksina @surf @fedicat I don't disagree. With Surf, I'm encouraged by the fact that the company has made it's previous app accessible.

@ppatel @surf There are many promising apps, I'm currently testing both Surf and @fedicat and I think they should think of accessibility from the start, not because someone of us asks. Accessibility is matter of software quality, not "empathy towards minorities". If a software wants to be human-centered, let it be such completely.

@talksina @surf I've already provided a bunch of feedback. I'm glad that more than one person will be sending them ideas and suggestions. I hope things get better during the beta since this sounds like a good app.
