This week for #MusicWomenWednesday, I want to highlight a favorite who only gets love for one or two of her most popular songs. This is insane because she has so many great blues songs and such a unique style, she needs to be on the 'Mount Rushmore' of women in music (a less racist version of Mount Rushmore, that is). This is 'Turtle Blues' from Janis Joplin (with her band Big Brother and the Holding Company).
Okay, see this is a perfect example of why reputation matters when it comes to the writers or directors of films..
I just heard about this film called 'FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH' starring Natalie Portman and John Krasinski in an 'Indiana Jones-style' kinda 'The Mummy' meets 'National Treasure' and I was like, 'That sounds like fun!'
Then I saw it's a Guy Ritchie movie. 😐
I'll wait to see if the trailer grabs me, but I have a pretty good feeling it won't.
@renwillis Not to mention, can anyone tell me what Flanders did for a living? I know he tried to open a left-handed store once, but how did the neighbors afford their house too? 🤔
Okay, so this week's #TuneTuesday is #Tearjerker songs. Songs that make you cry. This is a tough one for me because I have a lot of songs that send chills up and down my spine, but very few that actually bring me to tears. That said, there is one song I can think of that makes me cry some days. I never met my dad and the line, 'Son, you don't have to fight to be a man.' hits me like a truck.
@sacrilegious_discourse Same reason kids believe in Santa. They make the mistake of trusting the authority figures in their lives to tell them the truth.
I watched ‘THE TAINT’ for the #MBMC and it was definitely a #TROMA movie (severed dicks and poop galore), but it was also trying to be a socially conscious satire about misogyny. Also, the lead pukes a lot and I’m pretty sure he’s actually doing it. This movie is NOT for the squeamish (I feel like I say that a lot about Troma). Troma distributed the film, but it’s a Drew Bolduc film (a guy normally known for special effects). Overall, fun flick!!
Finally watched 'LATE NIGHT WITH THE DEVIL' tonight on #hulu and I thought it was really good. The format is completely unique. It's not really found footage, but more like a documentary that slowly becomes more (kind of like "DISTRICT 9') and pulls you in with a compelling story. I understand why the ending was controversial, but I still highly recommend it for fans of horror. 👍
