I'm getting better at figuring out what music to recommend to my daughter. Based on her tastes, I thought she might enjoy shoegaze music, so I played My Bloody Valentine's Loveless CD in the car tonight and she said she "really liked it."
If someone had told me a few weeks ago that one of my favorite recent albums would be a gothic rock concept album about the love story between a vampire and a human, I would've laughed in their face, but here we are...
@jacklaridian yeah, I found some weird, almost arbitrary, changes in the book, like lizard folk being connected to the elemental plane of Earth and Efreets not being evil anymore.
I'm going to be really sad that there's no more Skeleton Crew to watch next week. I didn't think they nailed the finale a 100% (it probably needed a bit more room to breathe IMO), but they really sold the kids on hoverbike adventure at its core. Jude Law, the kids, and their parents were great!
While Andor is the best Star Wars series, and one of the best pieces of Star Wars media period, Skeleton Crew is a close second. I'm loving every minute of this show.
@artemis@bedirthan No, they definitely didn't, but The Falcon and the Winter Soldier makes it pretty clear that the existing power structures largely failed the returnees.
@artemis@bedirthan Losing 50% of your population in an instant should've caused a planetwide civilization collapse that would've killed millions more. That said, form what they alluded to, it doesn't sound like a pleasant time!
@artemis@bedirthan I kind of wonder if they had more plans for its aftermath, but then COVID happened, which not only upended their production and release schedules, but would also impact their appetite (as a major corporation) to explore the subject of a planetary disaster that killed millions. Apparently, The Falcon & the Winter Soldier had a biological terrorist attack plot that was scrapped due to the pandemic.
@darnell@one.darnell.one@tchambers@fediversenews@darnell@darnell.day I'd be more worried about BS running out of money before anything. Microblogging was barely profitable before Musk took over X and now the for profit pot has to be divided three ways? Plus, Musk and Zuck effectively have regulatory capture for the next four years...
I saw the commercial for Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve, and I have to say, most of those musical acts appeal to people who can't stay up to midnight anymore.
OK, that's enough news this morning. Everyone, post some of your favorite Dragon Magazine covers. Here's mine, from Issue 126 by Daniel Horne. I didn't actually encounter this piece in Dragon Magazine; I saw it repeatedly used by TSR in other promotional materials and fell in love with it.
My 6-year old is trying to learn how to draw a maze dungeon by watching @jpcoovert’s most recent YouTube video. I really need him to get this down so he can do cartography for me!
