@cstross @jimmac @archenemy I am a similarly decrepit individual. The perfect form factor for me is the iPad mini. I would love it if Apple implemented CarPlay features with headsets and more voice-controls so I could send and read messages from my iPad in my backpack instead of grabbing an iPhone.

@cstross I think it’s abysmally clear that the racists had to wait until ever WW2 veteran had died before they got any traction. Can you imagine Bob Dole, Daniel Inoue, Bush Sr, or even Ronald Reagan putting up with anybody spouting the current Trump xenophobia? I cannot

@w7voa I haven’t seen a single piece of spam on Mastodon. Meanwhile, on Twitter I was playing whack-a-mole with “advertisers” on a daily basis. I’ll take my chances on Mastodon.

I am reminded again that we are living in a library golden age.

Ebooks and PDF book scanning has transformed research. Michael S. Hart invented the ebook and created #ProjectGutenberg. The #InternetArchive has an impressive collection of book scans, and even their restrictive limits (one hour borrowing) means I have amazing access to a reasearch library without leaving my couch.

Thank you @gutenberg_org and @internetarchive, you’ve changed my life.
