I always keep a brand new spare drive for my RAID. If I use it, I immediately replace it. Always have a cold spare ready to use.

The only mod I’ve ever done is to bypass the electronics altogether, wiring an SB1 pickup to the jack. So I’m not the best person to ask about “real” mods! Sorry.

    That thing is sick!

    I have an L-2000 and an SB-1.

I’ve wanted a fretless for a long time.

What does the second switch do? On an L-2000 it switches the pickups from being wired in series to parallel.

The first one is the passive/active/treble boost switch, right?

Those show runners know how to keep a sense of urgency and desperation going. If I recall correctly, they started out working on DS9.

For All Mankind is a worthy follow up.

The lighting and textures really sell the illusion. It’s just a fantastic experience. I never want to race in non-VR again.

I remembered more. The interior plastic on the doors had degraded so much that it had turned into a hard, foamy texture that would easily scrape off with a fingernail.

It was carbureted, so it would get really finicky to start in the winter.

The speedometer very aspirationally went up to 80mph.

The speedometer would make a mechanical grinding sound proportional to your speed.

The stereo was awful. AM/FM only. Not even a cassette player.

I drove one of those Citations as a teenager.
Those were some of the shittiest, most poorly engineered cars ever mass produced.

I remember on ours, the oil filter was on the back side of the engine block and only had about an inch of free space to the firewall to unscrew it. You’d always have your hand covered in dirty oil no matter how careful you were.

Terrible interior materials that disintegrated in UV light. Uncomfortable, loud, slow, ugly.

    I feel your pain

Where I work is cooler than where you work.
In our café there is a stage where there are live music performances at the noon hour twice a week.

On the 8th we get a #DungeonSynth show, featuring a coworker (Kyvon aka Nathan, who is currently borrowing a few synths from me).

Shows are open to the public and free. Swing by if you are in the area. I’ll buy you lunch (limited to the first 3 people to show up on the 8th that aren’t coworkers).

Ghost’s Electric Limeade flavor is exactly the flavor of a traditional soda fountain drink, the Green River.

Why not just call it that? Electric Limeade feels like they’re trying to hard to be extreme or something.

Please forgive the ignorance. I just want to be the best ally I can be and I’ve never seen this discussed or explained:

What makes “folx” different than “folks”?

Is it contextual to use one or the other, or is one universally preferred? Or does it not matter at all?

    Is it a shibboleth?

Wait until some genius CEO figures out they can just skip the messy vibe coding step and save a lot of time and money just by hiring programmers to write code.

But mastodon feels more like a *social* network than a *platform*.

Building a large number of followers here isn’t “success”, making genuine connections with people and interacting in constructive ways is.

    Are you a human?
    Then you deserve human rights.

    Is another person a human?
They deserve the same human rights.

It doesn’t matter where they’re from, what they look like, where their parents or grandparents were born, or what their physical capabilities are.

This isn’t complicated and shouldn’t be political or up for debate.

As one of the youngest Gen Xers (I often feel more culturally connected to Millennials), I’ve been experiencing a deep and profound mourning for the kind of future we were promised. In my lifetime I’ve witnessed peak “age of transportation” which is now in decline. I’ve witnessed the peak and decline of the “Information Age”. The future was portrayed as continued development and progress… an age of increased understanding and plenty. We’re getting the opposite. It’s hard to accept and process.
