@Rasp@raru.re I use a LSI SAS 9207-8i in my NAS. I have it going to a backplane with way more drives, but it also works with a breakout cable.
Make sure you check the firmware when you get it, mine wasn't updated and I ran into issues

@GossiTheDog@cyberplace.social My understanding is that Broadcom doesn't care the impact to customers, unless you're in their top X of customers (and then they care about how to squeeze them harder), and the difference in scale between those top X and average shops is massive. But that is just based on other posts/vibes.
But besides that, seriously asking here, what is the alternative for on-prem infra? XCP-ng? I'd be laughed out of the room if I suggested Proxmox or OpenStack, but I really don't know what the landscape looks like these days because VMWare has such a stranglehold in the space. -

@goatsarah@thegoatery.dyndns.org I want dials levers and switches that go thunk, with raised or deeply etched legends that aren't just screen printed, and more metal everywhere.
I don't need 5 different very slightly different dishwasher settings, we all know I'm just gonna hit the "regular" one every time any
