Did you bother to read what I wrote? Yes, it's an effort to reduce server load due to bot scrapers — a mob outside the library threatening to burn it down on the middle of the night because it's not open does not warrant opening the doors and throwing all the books to the mob.

Even fine tuning the dataset before handing it over is likely beyond what many expect when they contribute to the Wiki effort – voluntary public effort for private gain is not seem a desirable future.

Wikipedia is giving away its volunteers' hard work and research efforts to train AI. It is an effort to fend off bot scrapers and reduce the strain on its servers — but to me it seems like that's not what most Creative Commons proponents have in mind when they sign on to help Wikipedia.
