@goatsarah it's too complicated for no reason. Why woul I ,as a user, care about servers and fetching. Fetching should be automated upon each request from the user

I know I have to follow people. I'm just saying that it's hard to find them (mostly because explore and live feeds and full of stuff I'm not interested in). It doesn't mean I'm not going to follow people. But I don't do mass-following, i don't follow randoms, and 800 accounts is more than i've ever followed on all my socials altogether.

@anderspuck @goatsarah how hard could it be? You see people that you follow. It's not rocket science. And it's the same system that is used on Twitter. And the same that was used everywhere in 2000s. I still have it on wordpress too. And it's also hard to find blogs to read but I managed that somehow. Just I didn't have a dozen of people coming after me for not following enough blogs

@goatsarah I don't know if I want to see someone's posts before I see their posts.

Why can't they make it to my server if I explicitly ask for them when I open someone's account? It's like not showing you a website because no one from your town has visited it before. Imagine seeing "Google can't be loaded, please subscribe and hope that it'll be fixed one day"

You can easily block people there, filter out words or even switch to classic timeline where you only see people you follow. I'm long enough online not to post any personal data, so they don't have anything to collect from me either

@goatsarah @BarrenPlanet you are too stupid to be using interenet since 1992. You have hashtags, you write posts to indicate your interests. That's why I don't need to ask anyone about their interests, they are easy to see

And I have no idea what you are talking about otheriwse. I do follow hashtags, I follow people, I interract. It feels like you are not accepting that someone may be not happy with Mastodon and trying to convince yourself I'm doing it wrong. Why do you need that?

I need real interraction, not just following hundreds of random people i was lucky to see in my feed. and then realize i have topics i'm not interested in but I also have many followers who are not inrerested in me

@goatsarah well, here's the problem. you are enjoying agression online and different shit, I like positive content which is not on Mastodon. I'm looking though hashtags, there are fewer than one post per day for most of them.

Yet discussions like this are very popular. People like you are praising Mastodon and trying to convince others that Mastodon is great. If it were great indeed you didn't have to try to convince me.
