Muted #SheepOfMastodon (plus the popular misspelling #SheepOfMastadon ) because honestly being constantly reminded of sheep which are being reared in captivity against their will for their wool, milk & meat is just soul destroying.

The sheep didn’t evolve like this. They don’t “need” us to give them haircuts. Think how that would even happen, before modern agriculture?? They were artificially selected to grow wool far too much, and they suffer, overheat and sometimes die because of it.

And even the sheering is horrific as it is often done as quickly as possible (time = money) with very little regard for their comfort.

The kindness they need is to be left alone and not bred by humans.

@Laz1985 but keeping them in captivity and continuing to breed them in this cruel way is just continuing the cruelty.

These breeds just need to go extinct and we need to repopulate unmodified sheep

@Laz1985 there definitely are existing populations of unmodified animals in those categories.

You mentioned birds. Wild birds are threatened with extinction whilst the most populated birds are chickens living in captivity. I assume you’re happy with this and think it’s cruel to stop breeding battery farm chickens?

And you said “treating them humanely and protecting them” - yes, we need humane animal sanctuaries for the abused animals. Farms are *not* humane!
