@evan Is it already possible in the spec now or would it need a change?
And I assume the various software would in any case need to expose the feature to users.

@evan To your knowledge, would it be possible in AP to pass along or enforce restrictions on who can reply to a post? i.e. no replies allowed, or only a list of approved users reply? If it doesn't support that now, could it be added?

@technomancy I'm not sure he needs to be dead, just neutralized, unable to harm anyone anymore.
Prison might do that, maybe death, or ideally just being ignored.
Remember Sarah Palin? Rick Santorum? Rand Paul? The turd was who ran for VP under McCain? They wouldn't shut up and they were everywhere making trouble.
They're all still alive AFAIK, not in prison, but harmless and ignored now. That's progress.

So what.
Cheeto Benito will bond out of prison, then appeal all they way to his personal servant SCOTUS who will acquit him. It'll take years, and he could be re-elected before then anyway.
Never will he see the inside of a jail, or even house arrest.

For those wanting to switch to #linux , here is the strategy I advise, based on 25 years experience:
0) Search what others with a similar background to you and similar hardware to you have got good results from.
1) Get some USB keys
2) Download the live versions of a couple distros that you think you might like or that others seem to like
3) Try them all!
4) Don't waste your time if they don't work or you don't vibe with them.
5) Install one you like.
6) Repeat if install fails. -

Whenever I still see FTP servers I expect them to be running on port 1312.

It does not speak well for the US government (but maybe isn't so surprising) that the SCOTUS's main concern in the Presidents immunity case is protecting Presidents and other government officials from being tried and jailed for war crimes. Even if protecting them from that also means opening the door for they themselves to be assassinated without any legal repercussions. We've gone through the looking glass into a nonsensical world.

@HeavenlyPossum Sounds like you've read David Graeber's "The Dawn of Everything". If not, some of these stories, and more, are in there.

I saw a post (sorry lost the link) that proposed that open source has driven the explosion in software bloat and complexity.
I think that's true, because it's too easy nowadays to pull in massive hairballs of dependencies and deploy complicated frameworks and paradigms.
In Ye Olden Dayes, libraries and tools were expensive, you had to pay for em, you had to evaluate them, you had to negotiate with vendors and beg management for budget, etc. That put pressure to DIY and keep things simple.

@evan Unpopular opinion: Raspberry Pi's are trash. I have a half dozen or so ARM SBC's around but refuse to buy or use anything from Raspberry.
