   Over 30 years ago, I used to work with a bunch of baseball jocks. They would speak entirely in movie quotes. Caddyshack, Animal House, Airplane, Meatballs, Ferris Beuler, Fast Times, etc.

   Later I started working more with nerds, and it was all Monty Python and Hitchhiker's Guide quotes.

   I am starting to realize that memes are the internet version of movie quotes. Dropping the same memes over and over, speaking in memes, it's just as stupid and unoriginal and boring.

     @bamfic I have been attaching star trek gifs to nearly every PR I've done at work in the past 3 years FWIW

     (but mostly just for decorative purposes, not used as a form of communication)

     @technomancy Hmm, thinking back, I can't remember Star Trek fans ever doing that. Maybe that episode inoculated the fandom against at least talking like that.

     Then again, the proportion of Picard and Riker memes I've seen over the decades is pretty damn high.
