@inthehands @JessTheUnstill @dgoldsmith it's because there's basically zero cost to being bad at employing people. Capital will flow to any established enterprise, no matter how dysfunctional it is. Capital will starve or subvert any upstart firm could challenge the dominance of the incumbents. Commodified housing means hardly anyone can just leave the labor market, and labor is so thoroughly tamed that tech cos spent the last year literally decimating their workforces with no push back.

Hey fedi peeps, I could use some help. I have a Nintendo switch lite, and I created a profile for my son on it, so he could have his own game saves. Then, some time later I got a full switch so he could play on the TV. Is there a way to sync the saves from those 2 profiles?

Also, it seems incredibly difficult to use the switch this way, like as a household. Am I doing something wrong, or did Nintendo just make my life hard for no reason?

@mattly I keep going back to these articles because it's just so incomprehensible that you would build this great html feature and then have no way to actually use it in html.

Every single time I read about html templates, I am frustrated all over again that they're not usable without javascript. It puts them in such a tiny niche of usefulness, when they could be almost universally useful.

@mattly @danilo So, computational photography is already a named thing, with well known vendors. If they were making a webcam that does smartphone camera things, they would call it a smart camera and partner with sony or samsung to do it.

This is an "AI" camera, and they're partnering with OpenAI. It's hard to imagine this won't be deepfaking yourself. And the failure mode I forsee is the cartoonishly racist one.
