@anildash I don't know a ton about MCP, but that seems like apples and oranges in a way. Isn't MCP primarily being promoted by AI shills and Microsoft? That feels like a few noisy entities rather than actual widespread usage. Fediverse is actually used by a ton of different entities. And more importantly, from what I've seen of the fediverse community, it doesn't want adoption (which in this case would be takeover) by FAANG/AI companies.

I would guess places like M$ are making it look like widespread adoption because that helps their bottom line and paying back the money they burned on AI. Hard to do that on the Fediverse.

@mekkaokereke Whenever baseball is mentioned to a non-American they just laugh at the term “World Series”.

@clarity I just did a big project with some archaeologists and was surprised that less than a hundred years ago people were just throwing their waste (mainly pottery) in to holes on their land. I’d never given thought to how modern communal/public landfills are.

@polotek @mastohost A year ago or so I remember someone talking about how they basically DDOS’d themselves because they had a decent number of followers and posted a spicy take or a “it’s my birthday” message and got hammered with replies. Maybe @aral ?

@aral I don’t suppose there’s any chance this means better blocker makes a comeback?
